Personally I will be sticking with my 40D for a while longer, but I do like the added features especially the HD video capture, the ability to take full resolution shot midst video and the additional cross focus points are nice.

AF is a major let down for this camera. It looks like they are relying on existing 5D users upgrading. It isn't a competitor to the D700 in the terms of a D3 in a smaller body.

For it's purpose, landscape, portrait, that kind of thing it'd be great, but for motorsport...I'd keep looking.

Everyone knows the 1d series is the sports camera.

and the 5d is full frame goodness for portraits and landscapes

the software and my contact at canon said the processor etc is all the same on the 5 d to the 50d except the cmos is full frame a few more mp and less fps
