Does anybody here play Live for Speed? I've been playing it for about 2 years now and love it!
searched the forums but couldn't find any posts about lfs, so was just seeing who plays!
You can change the driver seat position aswell if your normal driving side is on the right.

LFS S2 is a serious racing simulator. No arcade modes, no steering aids - YOU have to do the driving. It is therefore highly recommended to drive the sim with a steering wheel, because even though you can use keyboard and/or mouse, a wheel is what you use in a real car, so a wheel should be used in a serious racing simulator. Especially when going online, where fast reactions are required.
In S2 you can race alone or against the AI, but the real fun is to be found online, in multiplayer mode. Racing against real people is simply the best thing and LFS makes it easy for you to do so. There are also several online racing leagues you can take part in, if you are looking for something with a more competitive edge.
A serious simulator obviously requires a very good physics simulation to provide the thrill and fun of real racing. This is done by simulating all aspects that are important to racing. LFS S2 is the second step towards our vision of what the sim must become and already does a very good job in simulating real racing. Many racing aspects are covered - comprehensive setup possibilities, fuel usage, tyre wear, a lot of different surface types, intriguing racing environments, different car classes, etc. All these aspects make sure you have enough to practise with and spend time on learning the flow of the tracks. Additionally, don't forget to plan your pitstops - find out how much fuel your car uses on a track and how are your tyres behaving on any track, with your driving style. All aspects you will have to think about in real racing and as such you need to think about them in S2 as well.

i played it for a bit but the people lurking in the lfs forums are drift nazi's and i hate the wankers. But i suppose when you get an overload of the same question its inevitable. Atm im over it, lack of cars really done it in for me instead i bought rFactor and downloaded the oversteer mod which recently released a new patch and im LOVING IT!! not that computer friendly though so a half decent one is required to play(im running an amd 1.6ghz cpu, 1g ram and an ordinary 128mb vid card until my beast gets built)
When the newer patch of LFS is released i might try it out though.
Thats alot to read!!
EDIT - also have the v8 supercar, v8 legends, f1, etcc and ferrari mod. With further improvements with the sound which is the only thing that dissapoints me and a little on the pyshic side its turning out to be the best 2gbs+ ive downloaded

Are there any decent drift style cars in LFS? I've been searchign everywhere for a PC simulator to drift with... but it seems GTR2, LFS and rfactor dont have any sideways happy cars?

http://www.oversteer.com.audedicated drift mod for rfactor! you may need to dl alot though or if you live in Syd i could put everything onto a cd for ya. Installation and configuring your wheel tends to be a bit confusing but so effin worth it.

LFS has a FC styled car, turboed. Thats what most people drift with in the game. Then they took it out on patch Y so you cant use it online. Fuckers.

Sholm, try out Grid! Learning curve takes roughly like 10 mins and the drifting is some of the best i've played.. now dont mistake that for the best like simulator (forza / gran turismo series).. but its one of the best drift games out imo..
edit - it's not just a drift game, there's like heaps of diff modes / diff races throughout the continents eg. downhill touge, downhill drift, freestyle drift, drift battle, le mans races, eek hard to explain lol but check it out and giv it a go. pm me if ur wondering about the online side (its free

)

its based around the mitsi starion but it looks close enough to the FC lol. You can still drift online in LFS with patch X if you dont want to buy it.
But i still recommend rFactor plus the Oversteer mod if you want to have fun.
AE86 + 20B(600hp) = FUN!! or even in the FC = FUN!!

Yeh i've played and finished grid on ps3... but its not what im after- i want a game that will take time to learn how to drift or feel better like forza/GT.
I'm getting really close to the cap limit on my internet and dont wanna be capped so i cant download any of the games till the 3rd

is rfactor or LFS available in stores? i havent seen em...
MadMike
Sep 26 2008, 09:52 PM
nope although ive heard that rFactor can be purchased in Europe.
Theres an rFactorLITE its around 100mb if your not so keen on the huge one, shouldve said that earlier. That what i downloaded and just added/dl'd the tracks from the oversteer site.
It might take a bit to get used to it though, its not one of those 5 minutes later your so good you want to sell it for a dollar games. And with further improvements to pyschic, sounds and everything else ive forgotten its looking up to be quite a game in months/years to come.

Sweet, thanks for the info MadMike... i still dont want to DL it coz i've only got 1.5gb till friday. But if its only 100-200mb i might get a freind to DL it

So i need rfactorlite + oversteer + whatever extra tracks and cars i want yeh? Those physics patches would they be included in the original .exe or is there a place where i can DL them?
MadMike
Sep 28 2008, 07:01 PM
future updates physics will get better and all the cars are in the oversteer download. Tracks can be dl'd from rfactor central, and sorry dude for jackin your thread

lfs is way too easy, but if you like that sort of thing then im not goin to judge you for doin so. I prefer rfactor PLUS the oversteer mod basically because it challenges you, something LFS failed to do for me. Thats the same way grid was for me, just way to easy even with all aids turned off.
If you want a challenge play the oversteer drift mod.

Well It's been a while but I'm going to give Rfactor another go, only problem is they don't support mouse steer, neeeed a new g25 to test it out

I'm a huge fan of Live for speed, I bought the licence for it which was worth every cent
here is a photo of my car with a custom skin

I wanna join a team eventually in drift but at the moment i'm happy to cruise around in single player
Oh and I found rFactor OVERSTEER drift just too unrealistic, i played it for about 2 minutes and went back to the normal mode and cars. Some of the sound effects put into OVERSTEER drift are just aweful

I played LFS for about 2 years, then got rfactor.
Personally, rfactor gives you more options, more fun etc. But LFS was still good, until drift nazi's came along!

Well i have rfactor and lfs now, I still reckon lfs feels more realistic.
i like both games, but ive been playing lfs for almost 3years im not just going to give it up lo

i have found after a while live for speed can get a bit exhausting, while rFactor is easier to pickup and play
Have many downloaded some of the cars?

thats true one of the reasons i changed over to rFactor, they cater for everyone and dont give you one dimensional responses when you ask a question ie THIS IS A RACE SIM, NOT A DRIFT SIM, i do see there point though as the majority of s2 holders were racers and temp drifters but they still couldve accomodated the rest of us after all without our money there wouldnt be much of a game. I also blame the 6 billion demo dudes asking for more drift stuff aswell!!a free and playable online game what more could you ask for.
