Hey guys,

As the title suggests, i am potentially in the s4it head_wall.gif . I am born and bread in WA and have 9 demerit points against my name...i then went on a boarding holiday with a few mates over east (VIC) recently and didnt know about the point to point cameras they have on the Hume Hwy. Long story short, i got pinged for 3 demerit points. I remember overhearing a few people say that in some states demerit points do not carry over from interstate offences...please tell me this is true for WA?!

Thanking you all in advance,

- sharpear.

No.

The demerit point system is a national initiative. Points will transfer interstate.

The problem is it can take an unknown amount of time to do so, and on the odd occassion it doesn't happen. Unfortunately for you it's going to be a waiting game.

Thats exactly right, I remember staying with family over in NSW and they got caught speeding in the ACT. They never ended up copping a fine for it or demerit points.

However I have heard countless more stories about people getting caught and then being pinged anywhere up to 6 months later.

Fortunately (well possibly fortunate) the points you are getting pinged will only get taken off you after you pay them, so if it does take 6 months to process you might have some of the 9 you lost over in WA.
