I'm planning, well I've done it just have to wait 3 days for it to go through. But I've got ADSL and I'm waiting for my now ADSL 2 account to start.

I have a Seimens Speedstream 4200 modem and the only way it could work with ADSL 2 is if i downloaded this firmware for it. (apparently, told to me by phone company)

So i did, i installed it. It was genuine from the Nokia Seimens website.

As soon as it installed the internet just stopped. MSN lost connection, Browsers lost connection, updates couldn't connect.

I'm using the computers at work to do this any help would be great.

I've tried, system restore, uninstalling modem and reinstalling.

English plz

hmm, not to sure, but perhaps just try re-create the network.. do u connect to a hub, and the net to a hub? or just straight to the modem?

Just an Ethernet straight from modem to computer

a firmware upgrade on your modem actually wipes your modem configuration clean, and returns the modem back to how the modem came out of the factory (empty - no settings) - except for the firmware upgrade which was updated - hence it requires you to reconfigure it with your ISP username and password again...

if you got your 4200 from Optus, then i think the address would be 192.168.1.1
or if you got it from bigpoo, it would be 10.0.0.138

another way to check the modem address is as follows:

Click START
Click RUN
In the OPEN box, type CMD, then click OK
A Command Prompt (BLACK BOX) will appear
Type IPCONFIG
You will see your IP ADDRESS, SUBNET MASK and DEFAULT GATEWAY
Your DEFAULT GATEWAY is the modem address, so be sure to record it, and then type that same address into the address bar of internet explorer.
