hey guys i was looking at buying a gt42 garrett and a want it to run right in my rb30et there is lots of different sizes in the compresser wheels and everything but im confused on what to get. i want it to spool up at 3000rpm and come on hard.
any sudjestions on what set up i should get

I think you should talk to your engine builder, I could tell you what size 42r is being used on a 2jz but it may not work as well on your rb30

Would a GT42R even be making noticeable boost at 3000rpm?

my gt42r makes about 5psi by 3000, but the ball starts rolling from 4k onwards

heh, 42r's efficiency range is like 22-28psi, they are turbo designed for big hp and big boost. There is no point prancing around with one unless you going to use it, cos ppl will just own u on the street only because u cant spool before they do !

I preferred my holset hx40 over my gt42r for the street, alot more usable power, but on the strip its a whole different ballgame !

i have a gt45r on a fully built rb26 and im on full boost at 4200 rpm and it pulles through to 7800rpm, thats on 15psi, u will need to sepnd atleast 60-70 thousand dollars to get it to spool anywere nere 3000rpm on a dirty thirty, if u want huge top end, get a 26 head/30 bottom and spend lots of dollars and u might come close

3000rpm, yes possible on a rb30 with around about a 200hp hit of gas and transbrake ...
