biggrin.gif HI everyone, I currently have a 1990 SR5 hilux 4x4 Xtra cab with the original 22R which I am looking at replacing with a 2JZ, am considering a 1JZ. The gearbox is a 5F. Just wondering what fits and what doesnt eg engine mounts, original/supra/custom radiator, sump (have independent front end) etc and any other special tweaks/modifications needed. I will be going non turbo, the ute is my daily drive, but it is also required for wood carting 4 or so times a year where it carries anywhere from 500kg to 1T and tow a small box trailer full of wood also. Which is why was going for the extra torque of the 2JZ. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks

Dude a non turbo 2jz conversion is a complete waste of time. You would be better off with a 1UZFE or leaving it as is.

I agree with Rdizz. Don't go with N/A 2J. You would be better off with 1UZFE as he stated or even Holden V8, an old 5L injected engine. I personally had an 83 4x4 HiRust with a heavily worked 253, couldn't beat it for torque.

Hi do you need the extra bonnet height or will it fit under standard?
mister_2
nope but it sure helps with cooling..
i use a standard radiator too and never ever over heated on me..

Hi again, which engine mounts, sump and bellhousing did you use? Do you have the independent front end and 5spd? Thanks
mister_2
engine mounts are modified standard ones.. they look to go pretty close to bolting up..
front mount sump..
custom bellhousing.. you can buy blank ones from somewhere and redrill to suit your application.. pending when you were thinking of doing it i may have my complete bell housing and gearbox package for sale.. im going to go a supra 6speed with a custom transfer case adapted to it..
yes independent front end and yes 5spd (rv6 4runner box)

How does the front sump fit with the independent front end? Engine importer thought prob would need rear sump. Confused
mister_2
rear sump would foul the front diff..

Hi just wondering if you would be able to get me those pics from underneath, esp in relation to sump vs steering damper, steering drag link.
