ey pplz,

a few questions here. i got a 10inch type r dual voice coil sub (4ohm) version. im planning to bridge the coils which will make the sub run at 2ohms correct?????? well if thats rite then i was wondering if the JL e1200 monoblock amp will be enough to power my sub. the sub is rated at 300WRMS and the amp is rated at 200WRMS * 1 @ 2ohm.
thats one option, then theres the other of just gettin a cadence 4channel amp with bout 400WRMS and just bridging the channels, and powering each voice coil separately.

if more info is needed this is the link to the type r specs

and this is the site with the e1200 specs

any suggestions comments are greatly appreciated

It's never advisable to run the voice coils of seperate channel. You will be fine with that monoblock. Just wire it in parralell to the amp so it sees a 2ohm load. Also that is 200watts at only 12.5volts. This will be greater when your running your car as most sit around 13.8-14.4volts.

So just wire as follows on the website:

what are you looking for from the sub? A ton of bass or just quailty sound?
If your looking for a ton of bass i suggest looking into an amp that will push at least 300rms to your woofer.

well i would like abit of bass but quality comes first. theres a monoblock cadence amp at jb RRP $479 - $499, pumps out 400WRMS at 2ohm. i was thinkin of gettin that one instead, but have been told that the JL is alot better even if the power rating is not as high. keep the suggestions coming though.........

thanx
advance
200wrms for daily listening will be fine, you might not even need that but for competitions you would need more. Its like your engine been able to push your car to 200km/h, you dont need it for daily driving but for comps you want it...

The JL would be a good match for the sub but the Cadence is no slouch either, in the end it would come down to the sales service offered regarding the two amps, the warranty, possibly the style/colour of the amp and the price.
