360 or normal xbox? Either way it'll just be your standard ethernet cable, 360 is really straight forward and you can just stream all your movies/music through the network provided you have all the files shared and they're networked ok.

If its a old xbox you'll have to use a ftp client to transfer the files across onto the xbox's hard drive, ummm i cant remember whats exactly involved its been that long since i had mine hooked up, im sure searching google will give you guides for it though.

You can use media centre i think that's what its called. I used to have it set up. You add your xbox to the shared files in windows media player, then when you want to watch movies or listen to music you press x and it comes up with a list of devices, and your computer will be on there.
EDIT: this is the 'how to' for using Windows Media Centre with Xbox 360. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemus...mediacenter.htm
