what model? alot of Rx7 stuff like coil overs, brakes, diff and other suspension goodies are interchangeable. which means you dont need much custom stuff and most of the bits you will need are available off the shelf.

there actually a pretty good chassis for drift, its just uncharted waters..

If i had one (again) i would put an sr20 in it (good aftermarket support), change to a s4 rx7 diff with osgiken center, put s4 rx7 aftermarket coils in it, fit s2 rx7 whiteline swaybar in the front and also fit an aftermarket fuel tank as the factory one is a bastard for drifting (trust me, personal experience).

heres a pic of me having some fun in my old one (private property), it was totally stock..

i was thinking more of a rb20 or a commodor v6 as i mesured it up and it seem like it will fit and i can get away with it for under 1000 driveing

If you cang et some early model rx7 coilovers to fit, do that. Coilovers and welded diff will be a very good start.
It will be able to drift with a stock motor with diff and suspension done. You'll just need to enter the corners a bit faster tongue.gif
The rb20 and commo motor might be cheap, but they are also heavy. Just cause it fits, doesn't mean it's good. The weight balance (particularly given the relatively short wheel base) will be terrible.
I think if you want a cheap motor, do a ca18det conversion. Cheap, much lighter and effective.
Otherwise, if you can save some more money, do a s4 13bt swap smile.gif
It may not be the "ideal" paltform, but you can sure as hell make it work!! The basics (suspension and diff) will be cheap too.

my mates got a 929 which he is turnong into a drift car and the engine that came out of it weighed a tonne hes no putting an rb30 in it and it dosnt sit no where as low as it use to with the old engine in it

If its powered by a FE 2.0, then i know of a bolt in motor that will match an SR20 for power and reliability.

What model of 929 do you have ?
