Is there anything other then cars??? honestly... smile.gif Mind you, volksies seem to be my nemesis...

A current project of mine is building the house extensions I designed...so far the verandah steel work is up, footings for the balcony happening tomorrow, then I'll see if up for the challenge of building a 'twisted' roof for my carport.

Also into model cars, guitar...and a few other things including my new found affection for gardening.

That's something else....dreaming of owning one of these too... smile.gif

Just thought I'd modify this thread to a semi events thread too.

If your hobby is having an event or your project is done and going to an event let us know and anyone interested can pop along if they want.

I have a dog show at the Winnellie Show Grounds this Saturday starting from 5.30pm - first one for the year. I'll have Siberian's and a few others around and everyone is friendly.

Come along and meet some lovely breeders if you are thinking of your next family pets.
ScUd'EsS
Team SCUD will be holding a fundraiser (selling drinks - at HV first where the event will be starting and then down at the greyhound track where it will be ending!) at the Aussie Day Ute run to raise much needed funds to get SCUD to the Ultimate Burnout Challenge in Victoria in March... so by all means if you are going feel free to come over and have a chat and buy a cold one!!! thumbsup.gif

What other hobby/hobbies do you have other than cars??

QUOTE(sp33d @ Jul 2 2008, 06:07 AM)

Well, i got a big one. A big project I mean.

Im 75% done on the new paint job

New fans and lights to be fitted. (I bodgeied and fitted the switches myself, but I need a sparky to fit the new wall lights and funky fans)

Hardwood timber floor panels arrive on tuesday for the loungeroom, kitchen, hall, bedrooms.

Finished bathroom

Finished Laundry

Finished grow room garage

then I might do some outdoor decking.

DOes anyone have excperience hangning a 50" plasma on a plaster wall. I was gonna mount the bracket to the wall studs but, for the life of me, something seems not right about doing it this way.

The exterior is white colorbond, but its a little faded in some areas. Can this stuff be sprayed? Would love to give it a nice new coat of white.

Well, was supposed to have this finished before New Year's, but meh, thats why I moved here, so I dont have to be in such a rush.

Some pics:

Done two of the bedrooms, the bathroom and crapper and laundry look nice, but will have to get some pics up.

The hardwood floor is that hybrid stuff. its got a 4mm top plank of hardwood then two layers of bonded cores mounted opposing(I went for Nyotah. It was the best looking timber with cost in mind. Otherwise it would have been blackbutt or spotted ash. This is the single strip version, it is awesome stuff).
You will see these flooring options on ebay from as little as $14m2. They are not hardwood. Just a photo of hardwood over mdf core. This stuff is warranted for 25years and landed here it cost me about $80m2 including underlay, sealant, sound core and frieght. You can get in clicklock or glue lock. The single strip looks best, but takes longest to lay. The three strip is three times quicker to lay and costs about 30% less. Go figure.

I got a quote to get supply and install of Nyotah flooring from carpet choice, was looking at 11 thousand all up. I did this on my own for just under 7k. So thats 4k for car parts.

The painting is the easyest, water based ftw. I went to bunnings because thwey have the range and the convenience, not for the price smile.gif I chose the three colors in the scheme and called them : Pauls Iced Coffee, Breaka Choc, and Vanilla Malt (the trims are vanilla malt smile.gif

Not bad for a bloke who prefers Classic Choc.

The fans are from Middys (JR lighting) and are fucking awesome, blow you out the door on full speed. They dont vibrate, are perfectly balanced but will slice your fingers off if you reach up.

All the lights and fittings are from JR. They are the most helpful, friendly people in Darwin when it comes to anything electrical. Great people, so helpful and friendly I feel like buying them all a beer.

Fans and lighting cost a total of $3kk all up. That includes every switch and socket being replaced with some nice new satin Clipsal switches. The kitchen was done half arse by the previous owner, a Greek builder of sorts. So its gettin arseholed and a new one put in. From scratch.

Its amazing how many ex-building site windows, doors etc... are on here. No doubt all thieved from legitimate job sites as 'excess'. Heheh.

I got a quote for some bi-folds for the big window area and french doors for the back, but i required medical attention after reading that quote. Haven't been the same since.

The garage is getting plastered and A/C's. I would love someone to come in and Airbrush the two walls. If only I could draw. I was thinking of getting those two whores from GTA IV donw up on the walls in huge sizes, with Liberty City in the background. Would look sweet i reckon

IPB Image

IPB Image

Next up is the landscaping of the whole place, and maybe a nice new fence. The pool is gonna cost $$,$$$

Those guys from Northern Rivers Timbers are super friendly too. I dealt with Sandro, and he was totally awesome, from helping me with better pricing right through to freight and even checking up on me 5 months later to see how the project went (I mentioned I was DIY'ing and he gave me everything I needed to know to make the job easier)

how much for the barina? Well, if you get it before it gets stickered, its $80. After stickerage its $50.

My best employee, who is leaving me to return to melbourne (damn her) bought it a whiile ago, but ran out of rego and did the really smart thing by going to MVR to get it passed. Or FAILED as it were.....

As for the soft drinks, its a battle between me and the car parts vs the shop stock and the missus. She kinda wins.....

Larsy, Im afraid of all the insane boosters that tear up Fitzer Dve as if its....well fitzer dve smile.gif Its a bone of contention with the neighbours complaining and wanting traffic controls put in place.

Slow down peeps, I dont want the council putting in speed humps, that will be like having 14 of my driveways to negotiate everyday; scrapeage.

Pop over anytime lars smile.gif Just beep and ill open the gates

And release the hound.

DUDE...gotta ask where you found this table and chairs... not that I'd want to be copying or anything, but we've been looking around for a while now. thumbsup.gif
sp33d
possibly the only set of red chairs with chocolate table in darwin. Been looking for ages too.

Its el cheapo quality. Its at Carla furnishers listed for $950 with chairs on the Australia Day special. Talk em down to 879 if you pay cash.

The table runner is a synthetic one from freedom, $15. Amazingly, its also 1.5m long, exactly the same as the table. (most 6 seater tables are 1800 long- too big for my space)

Its also chilli, red wine, and tomato sauce resistant.

The choco wood thingy is $19 from Freedom, the smelly rose carnation thingys are $8 from Spotlight and the rocks are free from somones driveway up the road. Probably not free really.

I just nicked em while I was cutting down their heliconoas. 2 for 1.

Capitalism FTW.

^^Cam Interiors, or CAM something or other. On the Stuart Hwy further inbound then Carla Furnishers.

Then again you did say *good* price. CAM have beautiful modern/deco stuff. Some of it is expensive, but you pay for good design. Unlike LeConyou and Jape who have the imitation at genuine prices.

Try eBay perhaps?
VWRX
Found some on ebay (copies of the original) for $75 ea but won't ship. Originals are $350+ each...

They are such a beautiful chair. When you appreciate it aesthetically, you find yourself discovering more function than form, but constantly going back to the form. Which is what furniture art should do to your head.
