well hey guys
I would like to introduce my self ( i is new )
me and a mate have an old EA' falcon that we are gonna start drifting with
haha anyway it is gonna be a difter so not a street car.
We have a few ideas:
strip the interior
boot mounted fuel tank
LSD or locked rear diff
Rollcage (when money permits)
and we are going to source a BA xr6 turbo engine (ebay)
and a new paint job
so thats about it so far. our budget for everything is gonna be around 7 grand.
cheers.

forget everything you just mentioned except stripping it.
weld the diff
make the suspension as stiff as possible, with biggest stiffest sway bars possible
make sure it has a good clutch and handbrake
and get a cheap bucket seat for driver.
imo, spending money on a rollcage and turbo engine and proper lsd is wasteful. better off putting that money into extra tyres and more track time

yep definitely need more focus on suspension/body stiffening. xr engines wont be cheap, that will take a mega chunk out of ur 7grand more than likely go over in one hit.. but it would be cool to see an EA tearin it up with the imports. so good luck

Jun 24 2008, 05:40 PM
cool thanks guys
the engine is actually one of our top priorities at the moment.
ok so:
stiffening suspension
I6 turbo engine
boot Mounted fuel tank (small capacity 20lt or so)
We are still going to strip it out to lose weight
lock diff
we will get a better clutch
better brakes
better hand brake
A fulli sic paint job
bucket seat
after a general chat with my mate today we decided rather than doing it all at once we are going to do it over a year so we can have a little bit more money floating around.
thanks for the help guys.
and yea i think it would be pretty cool/funny seeing an EA hang it out around the track.
My mate is a mechanic so he can get tyres from shops around the block and stuff for jack all.
cheers.

body stiffening. im trying to start out in my little bluebird and its shit loads more work than i thought. body roll is a real killer. it kicks me out even when i dont want to

really gotta get some strut braces in there.
cm27456
Jun 24 2008, 06:20 PM
ok. So get rid of the fulli sic paint job

and put that money into body stiffening.

This would be your best bet.
You need to realise that "everyone" drifts a S13 for a reason....
And it's not because they all want to be the same.

Nah man don't buy an S13, stick with the falcon.
It'll be something different at least.

Yeah man every second drifter has a shitty rice S13. I'd love to see an ea drifting around the track.
Go for it.

the only reason i sugested the s13 is coz when u drift parts can breake, and s13 parts a cheap to get. the falcon isnt a bad idea dont get me wrong

lol. just go to any wreckers and you have at least 20-50 EA's to chose from
but yea mainly the only reason we are doing this is cause it is just sitting out behind the shed and we decided to do something with it and we have a wreckers 5 min down the highway from us and willowbank raceway 15 min drive so it is all good.

This is excatly what I am getting at.
Fucking think about what you are saying.
Why would you want to be different?
It will cost more
It will be much harder to get right
It will take longer
The end result won't be as good.
There is really no logical reason to try and be different. TRUST me I have been there and done that and it's a long hard road which leads to mediocre results.
Like I said in my previous post...
People drift the "usual suspects" for a reason, and it's not because they love having the same sort cars on the track all the time.

I agree with you, but this man has made up his mind, so why bother going on about it...
Mate why do you want to bother with the BA turbo motor? Do your suspension, strip the car, weld your diff and you will find that the NA motor will be torquey enough to drift anyway. And if you want a bit of power jump on ebay and buy a cheap shitty turbo kit for the motor u have now.
Use the money you will save doing this to get more tyres and entry fee's.

i might be too late but ive drifted my ef xr6 with only the basic mods such as super low king springs anf extractors and exhaust it was manual of course and it didnt do half bad but it all depends on wat track ur on i was on religh reaceway which is a go cart track so the corners wernt huge sweepers ur ea will do about as good as the person driving it and that goes for every car
