What kind of work are you looking for, general administration or something more specialised?

Right now in WA if you can't get a job then there is something wrong.

As far as accomodation goes I guess it all depends on what you are after and what you are willing to spend, just keep in mind that Perth is the second (or first now I am unsure) most expensive city to live in.

not really fussed what i get into to start with office/ retail / anything really to get going

Willing to pay up to $140-150 a week

You can rent something like that in some of the more ghetto burbs like Swan View/Stratton etc I believe (or our old house in Bellevue if it doesn't sell soon!), with the availability of working in Midland. That'd be pushing it though...

I don't think you would be able to get a place to rent for $150 a week by yourself in most cases, maybe if you shacked up with some people....

Geoff is pretty much on the mark, you are probably looking at minimum rent of about 200-220 a week and that is the more lower end suburbs if you found someone who is willing to put a similar amount as you in though you will be able to get a nicer place in a decent suburb.

As far as office and retail work go, you will be able to jump into a job in Perth by the monday after you arrive, seriously there is so much work here at the moment that if you are not picky it won't be an issue. Pick up the West Australian when you get here, either that or have a browse on seek.com.au and make a few phone calls before you plan on coming over and you should be able to organise work before you even land in Perth.
