hey guys.
just getting some idea's on forging my motor as it is very likley i will have the cash money to do this by the end of the year when the car is finished with my new Skills im getting from tafe

i need to know
What parts are needed?
where to get it done?
how much would it cost ( around )
and is this kit any good cuz its cheap....
Rebuilt kitand in saying that....
how much better would it be stroking it to a forged SR22 over just forging it? as its another 2G's for the 22 kit.
Any help would be helpful.
Cheers nichy

that kit is awefully cheap....but remeber its not just a matter of buying the parts, there is still alot of machine work to be done aswell as the addition of bearings and seals.....
CP pistons arent know for being awesomely good...but eagle rods have gained a name for themselves....
oh and look the added cost of a 2.2L...it might only be 2k more expensive but that kit doesnt have forged conrods in it....the kits with the forged conrods are 6k
a forged engine doesnt give you more power, but does give you the potential to make more power....a forged engine is NO STRONGER or MORE RELIABLE than a stock engine unless the tune is up to scratch......
tasmanian engine reconditioning is the place to go....they have recently built a 2.2L for someone using a similar kit i think aswell as doing the machine work on nicks mental 2L sr20.....
nicks engine was in excess of 10k and that was with him building it himself, jarrods engine was in excess of 10k and that was mates rates....last i heard the 2.2L assembled was around 15k mark....obviously ur old man may build it or even know someone that would do it cheap for you but its definately not cheap to build a top of the line forged sr20 then its even harder to find someone to tune to its max potential because no1 in tasmania will and nor will dr drift

Forged motor is only a set of forged pistons and then they are still only as good as the tune in the engine. You can melt forged pistions as quick as cast ones. Good idea to throw a set of rods in while its apart, especially if you plan on giving it a hard time. All depends on your budget. I've gone from putting a set of rods and rings into mine to buying everything possible from the ARP catalogue

100% not true.
yeh i would get a forgin kit..
so bearning rods pistons ect ect ect
so if they melt just as quick why do it ?

Haha back to the corner billy!
How much power do you eventually want to make from the engine nichy? Stroker kit would probably be worth the 2 grand.
Instead of a $2k stroker kit you could always put in a RB! (have to rep the RB's) haha

i at the end of it i want over 300+......
stroker kits cost around 6 G's or some shit though ,...
just for the kit... and its alot more work and money.
i also want to be able to run over 20PSI of boost daily on a rather large turbo....
dont care about lag or any of that shit ,,

no pro at all but the ones i've heard of that make that power weren't stroked and did it without toooo many mods, although you can't go wrong with more cubes. check out what that hot 4's s14, JET 200 had done when it was making 300 rwkw

rather than look at wats done to it, read who did the work on it and all the trouble and research that went into it....then the cost of the engine after that....because that engine has THE BEST OF THE BEST
definately wasnt a bolt bits on and hope for the best engine build on that one......
had the enjoyment of listening to andrew talk up his car something shocking a number of times now and not the average person will have anywhere near the funds to build an engine with the research and development that went into that thing....
it had 4 of australias best import workshops work on it at some point and 2 of those blew it up at some point

Yeah JET200 was built as an all rounder instead of just track/drift/drag...300rwkw from an SR in a 'reliable' package is a very expensive pursuit
PSI086...are u from g town? pretty sure my flatmate is your cousin matt?

doesnt drift...too much mechanical grip in the thing for someone of andrew driving ability...but has ran some pretty silly times around oran park apparently...andrew also claims that no1 can keep up with him thru the local hills near where he lives
hell send andrew a pm and ask wat kind of money his spent on the engine....pm me for his username lol

LOL at some of the replies!
Andrews car has been pulled down more times than it has been cranked over! Hardly within anyones reach unless you plan to spend 50k or more on perfecting everything using trial and error.
TD06SH-25G + Step 2 cams + supporting mods + 20psi = 300rwkw on a good tune.
Making it reliable....another thing all together.
