I have a 1970 merc with a VP 3.8 w custom extractors, v8 diff etc its lowered on standard merc mags, goes hard and sounds great.

The local mechs drool over it (Mrs wont let him have it and the apprentice cant afford it)

I understand the engine job is worth about 6k on its own (cert supplied).

I am looking at selling it and want to know if i should spend a bit of money on it first?

It needs a new roof lining as the old one is hard, cracked and peeling near the rear window.

It needs rego, i have a blue slip from a month or two ago but didnt have the money to reg at the time. I have mats for it but they arent as sexy as this car deserves, Some little shit pinched the hood ornament off it a while back, i can get one of those for about $50.

I want $8k for it but would take a bit less in consideration of these factors.
I dont know a hell of a lot about marketing vehicles like this and need to know if i am better off spending the $ or let some one else customise it themselves (different taste to my choices).

I dont want people to try and beat the price down just because it needs a bit of work otherwise i will do it myself, its a truly unique vehicle and people love seeing hearing and riding in it and it has so much more potential. Im not really that passionate about it although i do love the beast of a thing yet have better things i could be doing with my time and money.

Cheers

mate do you have any pics of it?
if it was me, i'd try and fix up all the little bits before selling, but you'd know the vehicle best? dunno.gif

i will do that if spending 500 will stop clowns from knocking it down 4k...

Alternately they can have it for a k less save me some time and do the job according to their tastes and specifications.

Its a great thing just needs a bit of detail added, yet beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one mans good bit is another mans 'thats shit', rather leave it to the buyer who sees not only the beauty and value in the vehicle but also the choices available to them at present.

Cheers though, pics on the way after i get round to polishing it up.
