hey fellas in a few weeks im selling my current lux for one thats newer and has a little more oomf.

i have 21k to spend and i want a 3.0L turbo diesel Hilux, im guessing for what i want with the money i have, im lookin at around a 99'ish model?

was just after sum feedback on them. good points, bad points. how good they are on fuel? how much better than a straight 3.0L D?

i rele dont know much about them so any info would be much appreciated.

thanks thumbsup.gif

ya should be able to get a newer than 99 model for 21k,my mate has a '00' model 3.0L TD and it cost him $16k...

The TD is a lot better than the non turbo. Remember though that the newer models are all IFS so an auto locker up front is a good investment otherwise you may blow diffs using the right boot method to climb hills.

21k should get you a good tidy example also just check all the servicing has been done, especially being diesel, otherwise it may cost you a heap in the long run.

thanks fellas. ill definitely go the turbo. bit of a bugger about the IFS issue seeing mine is currently IFS and im sick of lifting wheels. i nearly bought a lokka for my current lux but thought i would hold off till i get my new one. i suppose its just gunna take a while to find a decent one that wont keep costing me which is part of my reason of gettin sumthing newer.

thanks again for your comments and please keep them coming if any of you have any other information thumbsup.gif

Keep playing in the mud and the problems will never end no matter how new it is wink.gif

yeh thats tru. i intend on only beach work and some bush, just not mud. the main issue with my ute is that everything is gettin to the age where it just wears out so ive spent soo much on it and its still running fine i must be close to replacing nearly everything lol infact prob wouldnt mind holdin on to it if it had more grunt

Government auctions can be great, but don't assume straight up that it's been looked after well. I've seen some council utes get thrashed in the salt water while driving around Moreton.

I know its out of your budget. But for 28k you can get a brand new BT50 3.0L Turbo diesel 4x4 drive away with tray.

Much better value IMO. Thats if you can afford it. Remeber its brand new.

IMO a secondhand Lux is better value than a New BT50 wink.gif unless you only want to cruise around onroad. I still say you are better off just keeping what you have a newer diesel is no quicker anyway
