Well, as I fucked up this week, i am going to throw open for suggestions for POTW this week. Now while I know Matt (Moment) had pics posted in his thread, they are all older than this week, so reframe from using them please..
Lance.
PS, I'll see how this method works out and we might work out something so we can come to a uniform agreement on it all

I have chosen this photo from matt mead mostly due to the difficulty involved in shooting at a slow shutter with the vehicle coming towards you and still getting the car sharp not to mention the comp is good as well.

I too vote this picture, whilst it is not my favourite of his latest bunch, it is still a righteous photo worthy of our kudos.

Yeah, I'm with Ghetto. It's a very well executed shot - damn that central comp though.
Special mention must go to this shot from him:

CLEAN YOUR SENSOR MAN!
I used to be good at this comp, now i can't even choose a winner never mind get nominated!!

May 2 2008, 08:50 AM
lol...thanks guys for your support...the sensor is getting cleaned...it will be done for next weekend lol..
and i bought grad. ND filter which i hoping it will make the skys look even more amazing in the wide open pans..
Lance
May 2 2008, 07:12 PM
How come an ND filter? Now when you panning you will have to line the filter up with horizon etc, with a polariser is really wouldn't matter.
I like the shot harry choose for the record of matt's. De-servant of POTW this week I feel
matt mead
May 2 2008, 08:41 PM
yeah i know, i think its just the background needs work.... however i did buy a polriser aswell

so im going to try out both

That phot would work if the car was away from where its parked, in the middle of the carpark, with the photo taken with that lighting. because where its parked, wreaks it

Thanks for the tip dude
I was actually surprised at how little light there is at DFO, i dont go out there to often, so i was a bit 50/50 on how they'd turn out.

Must admit Dave two very nice pics with the Honda S2000 shot the blackness it the top right hand side is that because of editing? just looks really good with it there.
Nick_
May 3 2008, 04:53 PM
Yeah I think he's darkened everything around the S2000 to make it stand out
and look down the bottom left corner!
UH OH, dave has a dirty seeeeeeensoooooooooor, even the mkIII's can't get away from it

How often do you clean your camera dave? I must admit, I've had my 40D for only a couple days but it's been cleaned almost every night

both great shots but I didn't see them in the general photography section last week...
Last time I checked, that is the criteria.
It's all about contributing to the photography section, not just taking photos.
PS. I vote for either a voting system like the old one with set nominees. Either that or the regular POTW system. These always end up with about 10 people nominating their own (often pretty average) pic and about 3 people puling their fingers out (and taking themselves out of the equation as they should - everyone thinks they should win!) and looking though all the shots from the week and choosing their favourites.

What about a set theme for each month. Everyone submits one photo fitting the criteria. Then everyone selects there top 10 entrants from the thread and these final 10 are then setup in a poll thread and voted upon?
Mind you this system wouldn't be fool proof for those that wanted to boost there votes... so maybe we need to introduce what Dreeft use to use in the Photochopping section with a secret poll with selected trusted users...

May 4 2008, 07:12 AM
Yeah, but we did it for two months and I stoped, because no one was interested in the theme.
I think choosing the best 3 images of the week, and then everyone voting and results pulled wed is the best way
Nick_
May 4 2008, 07:45 AM
Yeah I think a secret poll is better, it was a nice surprise when I got a PM saying I'd won it and nominating your own picture is a little too 'on yourself' for me (I really did just post that picture up the top for no real reason).

Well what about adding in winner gets to choose the new theme or something? I'd really prefer we do a secret poll otherwise there will be those that are willing to cheat votes and everything will fall to bits again.
matt mead
May 4 2008, 10:12 AM
yeah i would agree with secret poll would be better...i think its sad how people would cheat votes...

I will sort something out, and have it going next week.
So no one likes 3 judgees picking the photos, and then me submitting it like it is now? I mean each topic has 10 or so replies
TUN35
May 4 2008, 11:06 AM
Well I think the responsibility should be put back on the Users to pick which image they would like to have submitted (Course they can post in their thread and see which appeals more to peoples tastes as well). Cuts down on you guys going through hunting and missing things (One time lol). Simply if they don't submit anything tough luck, focus on next week

As long as we have no idea who the judges are then there can't be any bias with knowing one judge and going ok this person like this type of image I'll take it this way to appeal more to them.
I have no problem with the current setup if you guys are happy to spend the time
Lance

I too am happy with the way it's going now and I reckon Lance will bring the goods, I just hope we can all remember its about learning and giving kudos to those who are showing advancement etc.. rather than turning it into a grade 5 girls pony-tail competition 'mines better than yours' otherwise it'll no doubt fall apart, maybe we can just do a group vote and ban the wankers

(DON'T BAN ME!!)
