Here comes some questions which *whinces* im gonna get raped for.

Who here can do stand up monos for a respectable distance? Im having problems holding mine up. I get it up, then do some pants browning before putting it back down. Anyone got any tips on how to hold them up.

Ive been riding with some blokes that can pull some great monos and brakies and they have given me buckets of tips, however was hoping to get a different view from you fellas. A few of the blokes ive heard from actually have a motorbike stunt group and perform. Won a few trophies between them.

I can do some alright sit down, clutch power monos, but Im sure even Jordz could manage them on the R6, thats why Im wanting to do longer stand ups.

Any advice would be tops.

Haha. Yeah, one handed, backwards, whilst doing your mum and smoking a cigar... tongue.gif Moony.gif

Maybe you could work harder on growing some balls?
Or have a spoonful of cement? laugh.gif

But nah seriously I'd be scared to mono that thing, wouldn't be easy with the peaky top end power...
And not like the CR, you bin it and it'll cost a fortune!

Get some stunt pics to us when u practice with someone next.

I could do them all day on the KX125, but CBR is slightly different and to be honest...I havent really tired to lift the front wheel.

I thought you were going to say on your DH rig. I had mates that could coast for over a km down a nice gentle slope, was a sight. On the DH bike I could max probably 50-60 meters, when I was at the top of my game.
drift_that_rc
yea i can do them on my xr600
till i got caught and got a 210 dollar fine and 3 points oopsie.gif

Go practice on the DT and let me know how you do them, then ill apply it to the R6 tongue.gif

Ill be away for the next fortnight, then i still need a to get my bike dynoed... then ill be out there practicing.. ill let you know any tips i got for ya's

Easiest way to learn stand ups cobber is staggered eg: left leg on back peg, right foot over rear brake as normal.

If your just starting out use 1st gear to get used to the different feel of staggered, roll at about 15/20ks pop the clutch ride out.

Once you get used to the feeling of the front lifting off, use 2nd gear (not as twitchy as first) and slowly increase the amount of clutch you use.

Once you get a little more confidence you can slowly increase how high you go with the clutch (naturally tongue.gif ) to the get to BP and use the throttle/rear brake to stay there.

One other tip i will give whilst starting stand ups is get used to using the rear brake to bring you down, easiest way is pop the front wheel about 2feet, ride it out a little and use the rear brake to bring you down and train that brain so you dont panic and loop it accidentally thumbsup.gif

gee im new to the scene of monoing road bikes, but im not gonna try it in first, its to edgy and perky for trying to keep it up!

Ive been doing it in second, my biggest problem is as you pointed out keeping my foot over the rear brake and stop myself from panicing once i get to the balance point or going to far and ending up having the bars as an ornament in my face.

Ive been having dreams lately that I can pull really good long stand ups, its awesome smile.gif

The new fully's harder tog et up. Because it weighs just about as much as a fucken R6.

Its 2nd nature cobber, pretty much 99% of people have the same instinct when the front comes up at first.

Just practice using the rear brake like i said so its second nature and it will all eventually come.

You have a great bike to learn with, "apparently" they comes up quite easy in 4th ph34r.gif

Maybe when little 60kg girly boys like yourself try they come up in 5th but when real men like myself that tip the scales over 100kg do, we use 4th tongue.gif

Oh and if your doing them right then stand ups are 100000000000000000 times easier than sit down as its easier to go to and maintain BP thumbsup.gif

practice is the only way... pushing more and more until u ride BP for longer and longer.. smooth throttle control also helps..

i used to do them in 1st on my stock 600rr, once i got used to BP u can ride them for ages..
*low_lux*
depends wat bike - clutch em in 2nd or 3rd

change through gears - simple (sitdown ones)

not sure about stand up - dont feel stable lol
zx10r
If ya can find a nice incline to ride up I found it heaps easy to balance the bike. Like everyone else has said, practice makes perfect.
Scotty_#72
If u are comfortable using ur brake brake whilst being on the back wheel i say start in 2nd and find ur balance point keep revs high but not 2 much and if u can change gears put it into 3rd. its all about balance and body placement pretty much and also nerves like going 60ks you dont wanna fall off the back all confidence and practice makes perfect
fullboost
a few mates of mine are the team servin it up guys from syd. they just learnt everything by aclot of practise out in the industrial areas at kurnell and out at camden etc in deserted carparks etc now they doin alright for themselves hehe

just gotta practise practise practise , watch a lot of stunt movies for techniques etc
sexyxe
I've learnt to do mono's and endo's by practice. -1,+1 sprocket change and tune also helped the mono situation aswell. Getting it going through gears too.

Endo's are alot harder though..
