Hey all,
I will be obtaining my Learners' permit for a motorbike here in QLD. Because i'm still on my Ps and have been since August 06, I can only get my RE (up to 250cc). I have done my shopping and have found my weapon of choice...a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R for $7260 ride away. Being 6 ft 1 and close to 140kgs, I have found this would be the best choice of bike for me.
I have decided to choose Morgan & Wacker as my training provider for Q Ride but not sure how Q Ride works etc. Do i need to hold my Learners' for a certain period before I sit the Q Ride test or not and a rough idea of how much it would cost me.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Morgan and Wacker are a pretty good provider. I wouldnt go to anywhere else buddy. I used to instruct at Wackers and the other providers do a half assed job. Its your life they're playin with.
Remember which ever provider you choose, you will think are great because you don't know ant better. I promise you wackers will do a better job than any of the other halfwitts.
By the way, 6 foot 1 and 140kg and your gunna kill that Kwaka. You should if your restricted to a 250 be lookinga t a single cylinder. it may not look as pretty, but it 'll have plenty of Torque to get you movin. Save the pretty bike for your 2nd one when your on your opens.
Get an xr 250 or something like that. if your drop it your not gunna be up for $3000 worth of new fairing either.
Just my thoughts, not gospel.

To be completelt honest buddy, I've trained quite a few students who di there first part of training with Pro at Rocklea.
How would you feel if you mother had never ridden before and within 2 hours on the first day the instructors took her on the ipswich motorway.
The biggest problem with Q ride is that to become an instructor you only have to have held your R class licence for 12 months.
That means you could do your Q ride now, notride a bike for 12 months and go hey that job would be good. Bang you do a Cert 4 course and your an accredited motorcycle trainer who has no experience whatso ever.
The blind leading the blind.
Any accredited trainer with any credibility would not work for Pro or Team moto. Its all about bike sales to them mate.
You get a free "advanced" course with every motorcycle bought.
To be a trainer at Mount Cotton you are training licenced riders not learners. You do not have to even be an accredited trainer to teach licenced riders out there at their advanced days.
Not to be harsh, but a pro honda "instructor" died whilst trtaining students at Mount Cotton mid last year.
The choice is yours mate. its a gamble either way.

I did mine with Ridesmart at Runcorn and cant speak highly enough of Warren. He made sure we were competant enough on the bikes before taking us on the road and made sure we would survive before giving us our license...

i went with pro honda at rocklea and passed for the r's they started me on a 250 then i moved on to the 600. they don't pass everyone as there was a dude there that had to redo the corse, although a few people fell off their bikes doing slow monovers and still passed. it cost 220

I also did it at rocklea and experienced the same things. People dropping bikes and still passing
I jumped on a 600 and left 6 hours latter with my R license. Although I have a few years of riding experience off the street. It's a bit of a dodgy system, hence why it is been looked at. I think somehing along the lines of LAMS will appear in Queensland shortly.

Hey all. Finally booked in with Morgan & Wacker after much searching for the right provider et al, I felt that Morgan n Wacker would be the best choice. Having experience on ATVs for about 3 years, it'll be a bit of challenge adapting to 2 wheels but hopefully all goes well. I support the tightening of Q-RIDE but not the idiots who jump straight onto a 1000, go hooting down the street and stack it into their coffin ready and primed for a burial 6 foot below.
