Oh I thought I'd also mention I like the angle on the first mamba shot. Looks like you have your own nice ute, you should use it as practice and try some neat angles.

I'll borrow your ute for some 'photography practice' if you're too scared!

That to give it a bit more DOF? Im still a noob but from memory smaller aperture's give a lower DOF and higher's a larger? (when i say highers like 16 or 22).

Zeeute, use a higher fstop (as high as your lens will go, eg mine is 4) and this will get you a nice shallow depth of field, ergo everything out of focus will be very blurry vs a deep depth of field, and a lower aperture will mean more of the field will remain in focus before and after the object you've centered upon..
Remember too that when you zoom your lens will be the latter (eg 4-5.6) will be a max of 5.6 when fully extended.

FYI, Aperture and fstop are different things, related to each other
Aperture is the opening that determines the amount of light passed.
Fstop is the scale of measurement for said hole

Well I thought the point was to get the idea across that they're the same thing, then you can differentiate the two.. oh well..
Oh hey, if anyone uses a camera with a KAF mount (pentax and ..?) Ted's Camera House have an online deal for a 55-200mm F4-5.6 DG for $99 down from $200.. Online price only though (has to be delivered to your house) Pretty sweet deal.. Just felt the need to tell someone..

Oh dear look what ive created lol. All i was asking previously was in relation to Lance's note about using a different aperture when shooting through grass, and i asked was this to yield a larger DOF as it seemed parts of the grass strands in the Subi photo wern't in focus.

You can get some lenses that have such a large aperture that they will blur that grass almost into nothing (eg 1.8) but hey, it was only a tip and you can only shoot with what you have.
Lance
Mar 21 2008, 11:21 AM
Well, obviosilly he has shot this above the lenses highest aperture(its shot at f/7.1). and at 70mm thats not going to blur the grass that much. Hence my comment Spooln_D.
If he had of shot it lower, it would have been out of focus ALOT more. Eventhe two stops would have made a major differance.
