yo ppllz
my car is charade, 1 litre 3 cylinder....
i want to geta tacho but for every one i find it says suitable for 4, 6 and 8 cylinder cars..
how do i find one that will be compatible with mine? or are these fine for me as well and its just that
the manufacturers dont bother writing this information down? lol
secondly would you recomend a big 5 inch one on such a small car or go for a nice little 3 3/4 inch one?
thanks

Your simply going to have to look for one that is compatible with 3 cylinder engines , it will most likely have dip swtich settings rather than a combination of wires that must be cut or joined typical of Autometer and the like . The problem is a three cylinder tacho will often require 1.5pulse per cycle ,this is not popular signal ratio for 2,4,6,8 cylinder cars but more so in gyrocopters and small aircraft engines .
Personally i'd source a tacho dash and be done with it , but if you insist check the VDO and Faria industrial instrument catalogues for compatible instruments maybe or you could run a flywheel pickup rather than an ignition pulse type instrument
Speco Thomas do a 2 5/8" 8000rpm 3 cylinder tacho kit refer Part No 250-03 white faced dial , silver bezel and fitting kit
