top mount give u more downlow torque which is good for cornering and you dont need to worry about heat sink on a track. Im assuming front mount would only be good for the straights but it could have the potential to cause air restriction to the radiator which could cause over heating on a prolonged use racing all day. Obviously an oil cooler would be good for prolonged racing

since no1 replyed, id say front mount, as when track racing your always thrashing it so your intercooler will get fairly hot fast, esp if its a small top mount. But it would also come down to how much power you are putting down.
hope that helps

buy the latest ignition dvd. they did both and got better results with a fmic. but are u serious man? fmic is larger than a top mount. and gets most airflow.
seems blatently obvious.
+ the clutch fan sucks air, so u always get air thru the radiator.

as long as you dont go a silly size core and pipe work a front mount should work fine but if you dont want to go to that trouble there is no reason why an after market top mount will not do a fine job with an after market scoop
+ water spray kit would not go astray

only answer is run the thing on methanol.........
tas_corolla, waterspray kit on a dragstrip is a no no

Using a flipped core fm intercooler you could shorter you cooler piping to around 1.2m, match your pipe id. according to power and have minimal lag increase.

it will all depend on how much air you want to cool .
on a wrx the std tmic is shit you have two choices.
1 upgrade to a sti tmic or process west
2 upgrade to a fmic.
now i have done both options the tmic is very good for tight corners but besides that the fmic is all over the tmic every where else.
i picked up around around 200-300rpm of lag and 15kw with the fmic on a 05 .
but once you get to 200wkw on a rex you need a fmic to push any more a sti tmic can get you to 200kw but it's not safe to push it much more .
also any turbo over a vf22 you will need a fmic also the volume of air is just to great for a small tmic.

wat REXCE said.... top mount you get boost alot quicker due to shorter piping , i say the process west TMIC FTW! unless you get some custom piping for the FM and make it as short as possible.

from what i have learnt as has been mentioned, the TMIC is a much more responsive setup, but the FMIC will give u better top end power and response... am i right?
