Caught a couple of episodes on Fox2 last week and found this a great show with close racing.

The new format is they designate a track and allow 400 entrants or so to run 2 flat out passes. Their times are recorded and the cars are grouped into the times they run. The organisers then chose a time that has 16 cars that run very close. One episode ran cars from the 10.0, another was 9.5 to 9.7 brackets I think.

The cars are then drawn to compete and run heads up. Races are run from drop of the arms street style. Jump the start, sandbag, mech failure, run faster than you are supposed to, say 10.0 & run 9.7 and you are disqualified. They do allow you to run a little faster than your best of the day but not by much.

Winner of race goes into next 8 and wins $1000 to bet in the next race. 8 race to 4 and to final which is best of 3 races hot lapping the car. Winner takes home bet money + $10,000 and a NAPA tool chest valued at $7000.

The qualifing has been very entertaining with big wheelies, crashes and fires and mech failures. Not good for the competitor but makes great veiwing.

Next episode is on this Friday at 6 or 7. Some episodes might be on youtube also!

Watched it last week and it rocks, good to see it's alot of the seasoned racers in it too

Its been alot more interesting this season than last and its good that they changed it up as there were too many competitors that were "guessing" what they were looking for if they were running later in the day.

Be cool if something like that happened every once in a while here in Oz

i don't mind the show, but the host is still a complete fucking drop kick.

I caught another episode friday night and they had some nice cars running too...

Some big power "Streeters" but it seems to be more the older guys racing than the youngens

because most youngins in USA run shitbox FWD's in sports compact which boring compared to a nice wheel standing american muscle

Thought the idea was very good. He gets pumped and is really there to ensure people go all out, which is what's all about.I would be great to have something like this in Melb. We need the racing!! thumbsup.gif

I saw a little of this when I was on the plane the other weekend.
