So i know there are a few peeps out there that have one or the other and just wondering what pros and cons you have found with each???

I cant really decide at the moment but steering more towards the PS3 just for the sake of Blu Ray player with the new TV

So give me your opinions/feedback and best place you have seen the advertised for.

ive got a 60gb ps3 there a good machine will be the best when the new gran comes out.

i have a couple of mates with 360 and most of them brake

go with the ps3 if u have a plasma

we had the last shipment of 60gb consoles the day before the myer fire.....lost 10 of the bastards aswell as 10 of the 200 australian released halo 3 collector editions for xbox 360 :S

I wouldnt stress about only being able to get a 40gig..thats heaps enough space,i guess the only bad point is that they are not backward compatible with the old games..but once you play ps3 titles you are not going to want to play old games anyway...I would have bought a 40 myself if they were available at the time.....hmmm who wants to buy a 60gig...let the bidding start at $1200

I think i'll go the PS3 for the sake of Blue Ray player, HDMi and i dont really need the 60GB for the backwards compatibility as i have no PS1/2 games anyhow

Go PS3 and make sure you pair it with a HDMI High Def LCD or Plasma. HDMI is the only way to go for best picture quality. Sony has a new budget range of FULL HD (1080p not 1080i) Bravia LCD range. Sony Central are selling them at $2999 or something and chucking in a nice TV stand worth $900 itself.
I prefer LCD's over Plasma's for a number of reasons but we wont go into that debarkle.
Mate of mine has a 360 and when he came over and played the same game on PS3 he said it shits all over the 360.
My fav game right now is Guitar Hero and the wireless guitars on the PS3 are a winner over the 360's crappy wired things.

Yeah only 2 usb ports instead of 4,but its no biggie,I only use one for my controller charger cord...not sure about the card reader though?

I got mine at EB games...but have a bit of a shop around or check the newspaper for catalogues...do remember seeing one somewhere that had a couple of games thrown in for a reasonable price.

and yea....60gig version had a SD card reader, 4 USB ports and was backward compatible....40gig only has the 2 usb ports and obviously no card reader and isnt backward compatible...

i can even extend the warranty at a small cost haha

Na Xbox 360 for me, better value for money and better games.

360 is pretty good just unreliable

Had both and I have to say...

the Xbox360 isn't even woth the effort it takes to sh!t on it!!! Noisy, sound like a plane about to take off. Freezes when its loading itself up and during almost every game put in it. Controllers turn themselves off mid-game and it burt a hole thru one of the games!!

In short, it sux. Get a PS3! The only problem we've had is the controller starting to give out, but its been played heaps and it still works ok.

If you can be bothered waiting a little you could get the new 80g version... depends on how much you wanna spend and how seriously you take your gaming I guess. Wish you luck with your purchase

my 360 is quiet as, never freezes and controller only turns off if u dont use it for 10 mins

never get a 360. they have heaps of problems. we had to send J's back, to america no less, for warranty.

The movie 300 looks frickin unbelievable on Blueray running at 1080p on a PS3.. the in-movie menu's are cool aswell, yep.
Fork out the extra for at least a 40" 1080p tv.. I don't think there are any tv's smaller than 40" that are full HD or 1080p (with the P.. the p is important = Parallel, not Interlaced which is 1080i).

xbox for the win. i have had no problems with mine and mircosoft have said if there is a probelm contact them and they will send a box so that you can send it to them for repairs. so it is of no cost to u anyway if u do get this red ring thing.. lol FORZA 2 oh yeah!!

nah they lie no box is provided but they do have reply paid mailing at least the repairs are done here in aus now, a mate waited 4months for a psu to be returned how shit is that, they shoulda just sent a new one.

i just brought a 42" plasma from jbhi-fi. waiting on a 360 that my mate sold me, his had that red ring thing and he went it back under warenty?

any ideas how long they take. he sent it abotu a week ago and i want it now!!!! i thought they would just send new ones instead of repairing.

Wrong, the P stands for progressive. I have a 50" 1080i, and it is VERY hard to tell the diffence when comparing to 1080P (except for the price). I have a 360, had no problems.

EDIT: Just noticed the lazy man beat me to it.

I spoke too soon, I went to turn on my 360 for the first time in ages on the weekend and she's got the red rings error. Thankfully its all under warranty (even 2 years later!) and wont cost me a thing to have fixed.

I think the problem with them is always one of two things... some sort of weld on the motherboard, or the disc drive failing, both of which get repaired under warranty.

mine was the mainboard , but was the disc controller made one helluva racket. Got it back and its much better than new plus they apologised and gave 1 months free gold membership

metal gear solid would be the biggest release this year. GTAIV is being released on all platforms, the PS3 version held it up they shoulda just released it anyway but sony threatened to sue supposedly

My flatmate has a SonyBravia XBR 50" running PS3 at full 1080P and we can tell the difference on the few games that do run at 1080P. And the movies you can tell the difference. I think you need the 100hz model 1080p tele's to really notice the difference.
Anyway, PS3 is the clear winner this year. Burnout Paradise just came out and it's awesome fun. And Call of Duty 4 rocks online.
AND ROCK BAND SOON, one day.. prolly be delayed again though.

but HD dvds are dead so get a PS3

well i got a firt generation 360 - day it came out - and ive never had any problems with it. Besides, even if something does go wrong, microsoft will take it back repair/replace it even if the store warranty has expired. Anyway, Halo 3 pwns teh shiZ!
