McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has raced Britain's mystyry driver 'The Stig' in the Top Gerar show. In the popular show Hamilton swapped his McLaren with a modest family car. The show will be on air this Sunday on BBC Two.
In Top Gear Lewis Hamilton took part in the programme's "Star in a reasonably priced car" feature. Hamilton will have to try and beat the time set by Top Gear's 'The Stig'.

will be interesting to see if he could better the time by the stig

Didn't Button and Webber (Webber was in the wet) nearly do it too? I don't see any of the new episodes, only whats shown on SBS so I'm abit behind those that "watch it on the net wink wink nudge nudge". Who else has been on? I didn't think they'd be able to do it as the times were done in the suzuki and now they have something new don't they?
I'd love to see a race together on the track not like time vs time.

This was shown in the most recent episode that was aired on Sunday night (UK time).
Spoiler Below (highlight it to read)
Lewis Hamilton ended up doing his lap in the wet, but still managed to be only 0.3 seconds behind The Stig's dry lap time. He said he would like to come back and give it a try again when it's dry and Clarkson was pretty keen on him coming back to do it

was quite a good episode, loved the first segment about the HSV GTS, or the vaxhaull whatever they call it
clarkson loved it, we knew he liked it from previous episodes, but this was the first time they had the car driven on the show
rest of the episode was hilarious

There's a rumour going around that lewis hamilton is the stig
QUOTE
Fans of Top Gear will know The Stig, the anonymous driver who races in the cult auto show's "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segment... but no one knows exactly who The Stig is. He's always seen in a racing suit and helmet that hides his entire body, he never speaks, and his true identity has never been revealed.
Or has it?
In an interview with British lad rag Nuts, Comedian Omid Djalili claimed The Stig is none other than English racing car driver Lewis Hamilton.
"When I was on Top Gear around two years ago, I asked the The Stig how old he was," Djalili told Nuts. "He said, 'I'm 21' - the same age Lewis Hamilton would've been two years ago."
"When I asked the producers who The Stig is, they said, 'All you need to know is that, in about two years' time you'll hear a lot about the person who plays him'," the comedian continued. "They'll deny it of course because they're sworn to secrecy. I think it's part of the contract. But I'm telling you, it's Lewis Hamilton!"

I remember finding out who the Stig is and he is some former racing driver Ben something. He is a bloody good driver and his times haven't been beaten yet as far as I am aware. However I think Hamilton could do it in the dry. He's got more driving ability than Takumi lol. I guess that comes with being the best in the world...

Season 10 ep 6 pretty sure, it finished in the UK about a month ago now.
Ben Collins was but no longer is the Stig.
I'm 99% sure its Damon Hill currently.

gotta say from the current season, it's definately not hamilton,
there are a few episodes where you see the skin colour on the neck of the stig when he's either in teh car, or at the 24hour race they entered
white neck = not hamilton

there are heaps of different theories, damon hill, nigel mansell, and god i can't remember his name, but he's from teh netherlands
all speculation tho, i think knowing who the stig is would deminish the character it's self, half the fun of the stig is not knowing who it is

I think he may have been the first one. But no matter what, the stig is always a top notch driver who could keep up with formula one drivers, but obviously he is not the best in the world and therefore be beaten by hamilton.

They go to awesome lengths to protect the identity of the Stig. I am personally quite fine with not knowing his identity, gives the whole character a sense of 'wow' when he drives faster than any F1 driver

I think the stig is multiple people... not just one stig...
my theory why - ages ago a dutch or some european tv show filmed an interview with top gear - spoke to clarkson, may and hammond about who the stig is - they all had a similar story that he's no one - he's unpacked from a box - put in a car and drives, when he's done they dismantle him and put him back in his box.... (we obviously all know that's not true) but not satisfied, the crew went out on the top gear test track where the stig had just finished driving a baby Lambo around and they rushed him asking him who he was... in a very thick accent (definately not damon hill) he just replied - "i'm the stig, i'm the best" and stuff like that... but he actually spoke - the video might still be on youtube - listen for yourself and see what ya'll think...

with that video above, i believe i read somewhere that hammond was actually behind the camera and it was him talking...........
see this is why the stig's identity is kept a secret, so people like us can speculate, it draws attention and interest to the show, which is brilliant
