Hrmm.. Is the following right?

Never played a cd/dvd before..
You used it the first time and tried cd and dvd both dont work..

If both of the above is correct... maybe your drive is broken? If it is relatively new then take it back to the shop and get it replaced under warranty. smile.gif

Check in the hardware device manager and see if the device is function correctly - no ? go through the attached trouble shooting process on the same window

Yes - ensure the driver package is installed for the device , and then make sure you have the relevant media players for Cd e.g windows media player or DVD eg power dvd .

Depending on your default window settings even though you insert disk it wont automatically load the correct player

Load Cd to drive , right click drive icon , select either PLAY or OPEN with options and select your media player , usually Windows Media Player by default ................

What happens next might give some guide as to the type of problem you might have
