Hi guys, just wondering if anyone can help me out SOON please

A client of mine insists I give them images that are 300 dpi I have tried to explain things to them but anyhoo I have to, so what I am not sure about is what is the correct method to do this in PS CS2 or any PS for that matter..

When I open the "Image Size" box it looks like this

[attachmentid=406781]

What is the best way to make this 300dpi? I assume it is not as simple as just making the DPI 300 is it?? I thought there was a combination of those check boxes that you have to click / unclick??

Help please

To print correctly on the Fuji Frontier photo machines, they have to be at 300 dpi, this could be why they are requesting it.

Easy solution, crop the image to the size you want and select 300 dpi as the resolution smile.gif

Yeh I thought of that but they don't know what size they want the final pic ?? Other wise I could create a new canvas at the required dimentions and 300dpi then just copy paste my image onto it...

So do you mean I just type 300 in the dpi box and all is solved?? That makes the image 406mb, not sure if that is right, I would have thought that if you changed the dpi then the physical size can't remain the same? as PS would have to interpolate the new pixels ?

I just types in 300 into the DPI box and it worked fine for me, it just extrapolated the pixels. Don't know why yours was at 72dpi, mine is default set to 240dpi. Was it shot RAW??

Here's a screenshot if it helps: IPB Image

Nah, my camera just outputs it as 72 dpi, I guess that is due to screen res being just that on normal monitors??

I'm not sure

My D50 and D80 have both been 240dpi.
My screen res is higher than 72 dpi though. I have a 17" MacBook pro with 1920x1200 res.

Yeh not sure why Canon would make it 72 as normal screen res on most monitors is usually 96dpi I think ?? wish this was a changable option in the setup menu....output dpi
