Hey all, im interested if there are any skid pan days in brisbane??? I know Willowbank raceway has one every time the drifting practice is on but its soooo small and i have a commodre ute and dont want to put her into the wall (beginner) lol so if anyone knows if there is a skid pan day comming up sooon or anywhere that it can be done and and ill arange a day??

I know there is one up in gympie (sunny Coast) but its a fair drive up there....

thats about it man, either drive to gympie, pay 30 bucks and wait around all day and get 5 mins of pan time (in which you arent allowed to do shit) or go to a friday night at QR, pay $50, wait in line all night and get 3 5 min goes. mt cotton have come down with a bad case of the gay so they dont do shit anymore, so those are your options.

Skidpan drift at Mt Cotton is no longer allowed on the bottom track and hasn't been for ages, but I've been told that its still OK on the large top LMVA area[?] but you'd have to organise/get someone else to organise a few mates and book it. Noise restictions are in place but I'm sure your ute would be fine

the gympie skid pan is apprently ok, my mate goes there a bit with his R33 GTR and that car would be as long as the ute so should be ok

i'd goto the gympie skid pan if you were keen to go there and get a few more people there.

hahah now when i re-read my post i see my special "gimpie" hahah all good now, but thanks guys for your info hey, ill have to look into the Mt cotton driving centre and see what the go is there, If i can organise a day would you guys be interested haha ???

Im gonna do a skid pan day soon for the ute club, ill organise it hey?

They organise skid pan days for Mt Cotton (and a whole bunch of other stuff). I organised one 6 months ago through them, IIRC cost was $1140 per session with 1 instructor. Therefore $95 per person if you fill all 12 positions. Thats 4 hours, 3 turns each, 8 mins on the skidpan each turn.

You may have to wait a couple months for a day to come available, Mt Cotton only releases available dates 1 or 2 months in advance.

Also you can drift on the skidpan, we were doing complete laps of the track sideways and the instructor couldnt care less. It only becomes a problem if you spin out and keep the foot down instead of regaining control and continuing on.
