G'day ya'll,
Thought I'd throw up a thread regarding Tyres/Slicks that people use at the track.
Anything from full house strip eaters to your everyday driver,
What tyres do you use

I have used Mickey T 26x8.5 and 26x10 before bothare a great slick. Went quicker with the smaller tyre with a little spin off the line.
Also used American Racer 26.5 x 10(I think thats what it was) which was ok but not a good as Micky T for me.

I have used some 2nd hand 205/55 r15 mt et streets on my old torana.
Hooked up great, but bogged down after launch cause with the standard fuel system it surged all the fuel to the back of the tank
Are the MT ET Street radials available in a 205 65 15?

On my old Torana I used Goodyear 15x14x32 slicks, they were good; tons of traction for wheels up.
My new Monaro will have 15x17.5x33 slicks to try & get the power down.
Mate ran ET Steets on his Sunbird & cut a 9.5 so they definately work.

There's some pics of my Torana in members rides. The Monaro is at the panelbeaters getting a new side fitted before it goes to the chassis shop.

I was running 255x50x16 ET Street Radials on the turbo Rodeo trayback & swear by the blooding things. Worked a treat on both the street & strip & driving on them every day they lasted about two years. Couldn't imagine driving that truck on commercials

Looks the goods, much larger rolling Diameter than standard too....
What does that equate to in a radial tyre size??

ive used 26x10.5 street et M/T on my rx7 and went 10.93@126with a 1.36 60ft
and i have also run on a street tyre 225/50/15 nangkang and ran 11.54@125 with a 1.54 60ft(14-15 psi tyre pressure) which is pretty good considering they only cost about $100 each, with 370rwhp thats good traction.

Most semi-slicks are ideal for track stuff.
Yokohama A048 as used by Improved Production race cars are popular, as are the bridgestone equivalents (cant remember the product name).
Most of them are street legal as well.

For the track and even regular street driving I use Kumho V70A in a hard compound.
Excellent tyre even in the hard compound and very suiteable for wet weather.
Excellent Lateral grip as well.

A little off topic but his a question to any one using wheel screws with there slicks I have not long fitted them as my rim were turning inside of wheel but the problem I have, which is driving me insane is how to seal the thread of the screw ive tried thread tape any one have any idea they loose air very slowly and I find if I go into the stage lanes with 9 psi by the time I run they can drop 1 psi or so

i run the new ET street radial mickeys. they are the same as the old ones but now in new more sport compact sizes . the smallest used to be 235/60/15 which was too big for alot of PPL.
i now run 15x6.5 rims with 225/50/15 ET streets . they have a different tread pattern to the old but they are so sticky all good. they were 285 each

Absolutely! I changed from 255/50R16 Falkens to MT 3793R P255/50R16 & the difference was like chalk & cheese. I had them mounted on 7.5" rims but an 8.5" rim would have been better. I don't know what the standard commo rim width is, but I would think that size tyre you'd be best with a 6.5-7.5" rim.
