OK guys and girls this is DEFINATE, FINAL PLAN. GOING AHEAD
SUNDAY 23rd September 11:00am
Starting at Casuarina beach - top car park, beat the heat will be there on display before the start. Tickets will be handed out when you pay the fee, keep these as prizes will be handed out and also these will get you the free BBQ. Maps for those that want them will be handed out.
Permits from both council and transport have been obtained to ensure we do this correctly. Trying to get Police escort, Nightcliff police station don't think they can supply the escort but they sent emails out to other stations asking if anyone can do it. Talking to the superintendent today he can not offer us green lights through ( unfortunately)so road rules need to be obeyed.
Meet at Water Gardens for the BBQ, play area is available if anyone is bringing the family and of course we will not charge for children to come and join the fun. Area 3 and 4 have been reserved through the council for us.
Beat the heat will again be there on display at the end.
Don't worry about food, drinks etc all organised.
Thanks for the support, can you start letting us know the definate numbers so we can organise the food also if we blow way out in numbers I may have to re-contact the Police regarding the green light situation.
You can let me know on here or in a PM would be preffered, just saying whether your definatly in or not.
thanks heaps guys it looks like this will be a good day out for everyone, and as usual any questions that arent covered in this post please pm me.
Price $10 per car Mandatory
Passenger $5 where possible
Children Free
Okay, seeing as so many people lack the ability to stop bitching and fighting like little children, or through just being lazy and not bothering to read through a few pages you now have this.
If there is anything else that needs to be added then the organiser will update, I don't want any crap or spamming in here, if you don't have anything constructive to say then don't bother posting anything.

Yes, but you started yours after complaining that you couldn't be bothered reading through 3 pages.
And due to the other one starting into a big poo fight and quite a few people misbehaving I made the call and closed it.
So now everyone will behave here.
And will have lot's of fun on Sunday.

haha got the paper. They still called us hoons ? ohwell
lol i thought this bit of the article was so random:
"Edward Francais, 20, of Jingli in Darwin, brought his silver Nissan Skyline R32 GTR twin turboto the rally.
"I thought we were going to be doing burnouts ... Just joking," Mr Francais said.
Mr Francais said his car could beat all Commodores but there was no way it could "beat the heat" as it was a stock car."
lol @ eddie for that 1 hahahaha

Great to make the paper, let alone the front page, pity about the other dickheads that took out that fuel bowser.

Sep 24 2007, 01:01 PM
Yep, what should we expect. Still called hoons. "Hoons with heart" but still.
Anyone else read the rest of the "Good Bad and Ugly" story?
3 Kids escaping from don dale and stealing a car to try and get away is hooning?
Megz
Sep 24 2007, 01:05 PM
Course it is - young boys in a car oh no they must be hoons.
The fact that they are criminals and thiefs has nothing to do with that story it's much more fun to label them hoons to sell more papers.
Totally off topic though
Is there anyway of donating money even though we didn't go - or has it all been handed over?
Zmit
Sep 24 2007, 01:57 PM
does anybody else find it frustrating that no matter what we do... we still get labelled hoons?
to me it hasnt helped anything, the whole point of these cruises is to try and distinguish a difference between 'car enthusiasts', or even 'revheads', and hoons
Megz
Sep 24 2007, 02:01 PM
The principal of this cruise was there it's just unfortunate that these idiots decided yesterday was the day to crash their cars.

Have you not seen the article???
The front page story is "hoons" taking out a fuel bowser. Which takes away from the positive nature of the cruise. If that hadn't happened the cruise could have been the focal point of the article.

yes. we were mentioned in another article though "the good, the bad and the ugly",
im just disappointed that we still get lumped in with the 'hoons'.
There are always idiots crashing their car anyway

Sep 24 2007, 05:11 PM
dont get offended by being grouped in the story on hoons guys.....what you did was a good thing and something to be proud of. The paper puts up stories to sell papers remember they done care how. What they showing was the good side and the bad side. There is a big difference between car enthusiasts and irresponsible 'hoons' that give everyone a bad name. The paper just needs to be educated about the difference between the two

HOONS with hearts of gold rallied to help disabled Territorians with a convoy of hotrods yesterday.
I noticed the emphasise on the Hoon bit.
Could just have been, people with hearts of gold.
Zmit
Sep 24 2007, 05:58 PM
ok. so the article about "the good, the bad, the ugly" understandable (yet still wrong)
but we didnt need to be labelled 'hoons' in the separate article about our cruise.
"revheads rally for noble cause" i dont mind at all. but then they ruined it with "hoons with hearts of gold"?
how can you use the same term for a road offense and a group of people driving around to fundraise money for a non-profit organisation?
it is a small thing... and im not getting THAT worked up about it, but if we dont MENTION that there is a difference, and that we dont LIKE being called hoons, then they will never know.
that is all
/rant

i dont know if you can call them hotrods either

(although some had cooling issues

)

Yeh, that is a thing, I mean what happens for the Christmas charity cruise?
I mean people seeing the article will be like, it's about time those no good hoons do something useful for a change, blah, blah.
Someone should give the reporter a good speaking to.

hey guys, thanks to all who showed up and supported the event.
about the hoon thing i didnt really think it was the best way to describe us either but like mark said they have to sell papers no matter what.
im hoping the christmas cruise will be bigger and better this year as the profits are now goin to kokoda HPA and not the red cross. which is great news for us.
once again big thankyou and hope to see you all at the christmas one

Yeh, I should be good for the Christmas one, was out scouting houses most of the weekend.
Well just looked in the paper, and yeh, saw the story, not so great, saying about hoons who crashed a car, then got you guys right next to saying you are hoons but with heart.
Not exactly a nice thing, plus totally different things.

dont worry bout it.

I think would be better to do up our own story, and pics, then submit it, not let someone who doesn't know what they are talking about do the story.
Mr Mopar
Sep 24 2007, 07:58 PM
Yeah. Let it go. Writing a letter to the nt news will only result in the whole 'hoons' debate getting blown up in the media (well the letters to the editor section anyway). It never, ever works out in our favor. Just continue to do good things like the cruise and be the best driver you can be on the road and eventually they should run out of the negative stories huh?
