nice thumbsup.gif

(places tongue firmly in cheek) I guess the streetcar shootout guys were going too fast to be photographed laugh.gif
HYPOV6
Great Photos!, as always.

And would anyone enlighten me on what streetcar shootout is?
I lapsprinted the entire day, (dont want to sound like a knob ) but all the cars where to slow for me in that category and was wondering if i should be racing in something else?

It was lots of fun beating the porsche all the way down the straight though biggrin.gif
paddles7
Nice action shots of the gem at the end Tim biggrin.gif

Hypo, Streetcar shootout is the next logical progression after lapsprinting. Typically the cars are faster (ala Bob's Subaru, Anthony's S2000) and all use a Dorian timer (worth ~$500) for accurate timing down to thousandths of a second. At the start of the day you nominate a lap time that you think you will run, and the idea is to get as close as possible to this time, as consistently as possible, without going under. Similar to Dial your own in drag racing.
HYPOV6
hmm sounds fun, where abouts do you buy the timers from?

If you don't want to buy one you can just hire it on the day for $20 (I think).....plus each time you do that it is that much off the purchase price if you end up buying one.

As far as times are concerned, Listy (HSV GTS) and I are running in the 1m25 - 26's, Steve's Integra is in the 30's. Norman when he comes out with the Lotus is faster than all of us..........lately there haven't been many cars so zero traffic.

Cheers,

Bob
Zmit

Not a problem......had a look at my video's and its all over in about 6 - 7 minutes anyway....you were probably moving positions......easy to do.
HASHIRIYA
are they going to do a night meet again sometime?
paddles7
None planned that I'm aware of. They are great fun though! Bring it up at a general meeting if ya like Ryan. The big issues are cost of portable track lighting, the pits have to be lit (OHS), and getting ambo's organised.

Bob, got any vids on youtube?

Not at them moment.......they were pretty boring on the weekend, a few good bits in the warm up and my "tank slapper" in the last session, but shootout makes for a pretty boring video.
Funsize
Great pic's Timmy!

But you somehow didn't get one of me with ridiculous amounts of body roll! Amazing! tongue.gif

I do like the one where I'm in front of that little turbo hatch thing, I think its a Pulsar of some descript?

Twas a great day, can't wait for the next one, should be able to go quicker...and stop faster by then too!

HYPO, what lap times are you pulling out of interest?
HYPOV6
The quickest i managed for the day was 1.32 , the slowest was 1.53 , i just kept on getting stuck behind other cars, and to my knowledge, your not able to pass except on the straight. Is this true?

It was my second time down there, and im still braking waaaaaaaaaaay too early on the straight, doing 220+ down the straight with a tight corner coming up very fast just makes me brake too early.
beohbe
it depends if you are sure they know you are there......plus if they are slow out of a corner you can usually get by without causing too much drama.

That's what I thought too (no passing) but I got passed entering clubhouse, and I know Mitch in the escort got passed mid corner too so maybe there's a bit of leeway...
That sort of lap time isn't too shabby at all either!
HYPOV6
oh ok, well i wouldn wanna risk trying to overtake anyways..... i will just wait for the straight.

Your kidding?
XperiMental
No, it's cancelled, got an email this afternoon saying there's a lack of volunteers. I offered to help, but I don't know if the email went through
beohbe
Yeah, just made a phone call to find out what was what.....would have been nice to be given an email and not have to read it here, but glad I did. Will still come up for the weekend but will not have to tow a trailer with all my crap in it.
paddles7
Unfortunately not! Not enough flaggies so no dice this weekend...

Yeah it has only juuuust be confirmed within the last half hour, so I imagine an email will be sent out this evening
