Hows it going all, i was just wondering if anyone had a clue as to what would be the best way to go about getting a hole drilled into the fire wall of my proton persona i dont trust myself doing it, to little space sad.gif

im not confident enough to do it myself and after having a little peak around today i wasn't able to find any pre placed holes or free/spare watever ud call it grommits to pop out.

I just wanna chuck a 4 gauge amp corde through there so yeah just need a hole a little bit bigger with some grommits also if possible. Any information as to where to get this done would help me out greatly, going to start ringing a few places tomorrow after work but yeah atm dont have to much of a clue as to who would bugger around with something so little and yeah ofcoarse im not looking to spend to much on it...

Cheers

Find somewhere to drill that doesnt go near inner or outer wiring. Grommets are easy to find, dont worry to much about that.

again like I said im not to confident to do that, I don’t see to many places i would try to drill so yeah that said id rather just get someone who knows what they are doing :S like yeah ok its drilling a simple hole but yeah the last thing I need to do I hit something I didn't need to hit. might just have to do it myself just yeah make sure I’m completely confident before drilling I spose.

can you use one of the grommets already there? i fed a wire through the firewall in the vh by shoving a kilometric ball point pen (cos it was skinny) into the grommet and feeding the wire in after that.

What your trying to acomplish is what an ICE installer would do.
Take your car to an ICE installer.
Simple?

FCI, CarCom (dare I say it) etc all should be able to shove a drill through your firewall cold gal it (yeah right) and chuck a rubber gromet in there that you can poke your 4Ag wire through.

cheers for that fingers will find out more on the phone tomorrow smile.gif

and to the vh holden dude i dont think so im going to have another look tomorrow after work again but this time i got more sun light time to work with thank god for friday early finishes smile.gif anyways today i noticed the gromets in the firewall are sealed in or something not to sure what it is but yeah its stuck in there and then the gromets just have the room for the single cable or wire or blah blah that is comming through that particular gromet so i dont think i can use any of the ones alrdy in place.

Dude! my old Proton satria had plenty of room for extra wires and guage lines etc following the factory harness down behind the front drivers side guard and then came out behind the "kick panel" inside the car above the go go pedal behind the fuse box, pull out the kick panel and have a look before you drill any holes if your car is same same then you will be surprised how easy it is.... I used a thick electric guitar string to poke down from the top first then tied my wires to that and just to make things easier in the future add a piece of tough string next to what you feed down there this time then if ya add shit later on you can just pull it gently through, I'm sure there was also a rubber around the wiring harness inside the engine bay that needed to be stretched a bit but some lube and some forcing of fingers into the hole should loosen things up a bit

every car i have done i have never had to drill a hole.

I've heard of an installer down south who drilled into the firewall of a lexus bowrofl.gif bowrofl.gif full of f@#king sand haha snap.

that's what i was thinking. even in the vh there were heaps of wires going through the firewall. i just added another wire to the bundle already there. the pen casing works well because you can put the wire into the pen and pull it through without having to double the end over.

Trace the bonnet catch release wire back to where it goes through the firewall. Its usually a very large grommet, so you will be able to push a 4ga wire through it no worries. No drills.

Should be the easiest to find, and located furtherest out from the centre (dunno which side a proton is on, probably the drivers though.

it isnt that hard really just open ur eye look under the dash on one side and under the bonnet on the other and im sure u'll find a groumment mthat u can stick it through, with all the system i've in stalled ive never drilled a hole in a fire wall
