I turned my air con on full the other week, went to turn it off and it wouldn't turn off, even when i turned the car off it still went. I ended up having to pull the plug out from under the passenger glove box to stop it as my battery was dieing very quick. Took it to an auto elec and he had no idea what it was untill he got in contact with a guy from a ford work shop who told him it would no doubt be the H.I.M module. This is going to cost me around $1000 to get fixed which i think is a load of bullshit!
My question to you guys is, has this happened to you before or do you know how to fix this problem? My car is a BA XR6 2002 model. Not far out of warranty? Does anyone think that i would have a chance of getting ford to fix this faulty part if that is the case?
Any suggestions and input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The problem and price sound about right. And if its out of warrenty then no, ford aren't going to pay for it.

Mate, how far out of warranty?
We had issues with our Focus, entire display was faulty, quoted at over $1000 by Ford service guy. It was 1150kms out of warranty. After talking to the service people, they submitted a warranty claim to Ford HO in Melbourne (I think, somewhere down south), Ford rejected (so the service guy claimed), the guy gave us Ford's number down south, we rang them directly, lady said resubmit the paperwork, we did/made sure our service place did, and it was approved as under warranty. We're unsure about whether our service guys did originally submit the application, but yeah basically in the end it was approved.
So even if you're only out by alittle, make them submit a warranty claim. Its not up to the local dealer or service place to approve or reject, all claims go to HO down south.
Good luck.

The Focus was an '02, bought in '03 I'm pretty sure. But it was a demo vechile so I'm not sure what agreement was made about warranty details. Must of been ?yrs/100 000kms, because its just hit 101350kms.

sorry just to clarify. You turned it off as in the whole car off or you turned the aircon off when the car was off?

turned the car off completely, took the keys out of the ignition and the air con fan still stayed on full blast. Only way i could stop it was to either pull the fan fuse out or pull the plug out the is under the passenger side glove box. You got any ideas?

is it possible that a constant power wire is touching an accesory wire?
does the air stay cold or is it only the fan that keeps running?

was only the fan that kept running but it is all good now, went to ford today, they said it would either be the HIM module or a dodgy connection due to moisture in some pack just behind the passenger headlight, the service guy sprayed some stuff in it to get rid of the moisture and to help with a better connection, it seemed to have done nothing, i just thought bugger it and left it going on my way home, then all of a sudden the air con dropped right off as i had the switch on low. thought to myself WTF? i turned the fan dial and bingo, its now working!?!?! got me stumped but its working now so im happy as! saved myself over a grand!
