I'm looking for a 19 inch LCD to play a few FPS on but I will be using it for graphics design/animation most of the time. What are good LCDs to to use. (Only one 19'' for now)?

the thing you want to look at is what the response time is

it should say if its 8ms or 12ms or what ever

the lower the better

dont get turned off by brands u have never herd of

like cmv there cheap but most of them are pritty good and solid

I've seen some with 2ms from samsung and viewsonic, the veiwsonic was about $440 which seams kinda too cheap for how low the response time was dunno.gif

na that sounds good to me 2ms 19?

mine was 17" 8ms and i picked it up for 370

what brand
Reeve_AW11
anything under 4ms = excellent

anything under 8ms = not to shabby

anything under 12ms = passable, unless you're a super twitchy gamer, or playing something really flashy like quake

anything over 12ms = don't. just don't.

As for brands, I've always had LG monitors, never had any complaints, but alot of people make quality LCD screens, so I wouldn't really limit yourself to a small number of brands smile.gif

Try finding a review of monitors on PCgamers magazine, or any of the other mags. I'd find links for you but I'm dead tiread and need to be in bed tongue.gif

Thats 19" aswell?

I can get a 22" Viewsonic 5ms for ~$550... bloody big screen but you will need a graphics card that can handle the resolution.

A samsung 19" 4ms is roughly ~$370

Yep, I had a 19'' Samsung 931C (2ms) before I upgraded....would have to say samsung make great Panels. Their LCD monitors are great.

Proview 19" is the best ones I have used and have got me other mate to buy two as well. I got mine for $295 almost a year ago from MSY. They are cheap as chips and great quality. Its 5ms from memory. I would not spend more than $300 for a 19" lcd atm, its over kill for that price really.

As to specs you want something that is less than 8ms, anything more you will see ghosting effects. Next requirement you should be looking at is the warranty and price (as I have mentioned up top over $300 for a 17" lcd is overkill, put the extra towards a good video card). Then.. possibly the hardest bit for some lcd brands go and have a look at it running and see if you like it. Finally you will also need a good computer with a reasonably good video card to drive the lcd. smile.gif

Good hunting. smile.gif
