i don't think it was just the stairs fault. seen plenny people go up and down them.

i only had to go halfway down. there were two blokes down there fishing and they grabbed it for me. even gutted it for me!!!.

Where'd you go??

fishermans wharf

im looking to get into fishing more often and going on trips with people and their boats, some land fishing and everything really.
i want my own rod/reel that will do most of these things. im thinking a bait caster.
something i can troll with, flick, fish in the sea or a creek. obviously you cant get a rod that will do absolutely everything but i wanna do as much as i can.

so keen fisherman let me know what will best do my needs. what size line to use, size rod, type of reel etc. kmart has some sweet fishing gear for occasional fishers and nice cheap prices so ill get something from there more then likely.
SIKUNIT
I wouldnt eat anything caught from fishermans.

I got my bait caster from "top end fishing supplies" now" top end tackle world", paid $160 i believe. The blokes there are very helpful with line and tackle selection, because they "do it all the time".

Also, if your looking for rods, surprizingly enough Cash converters have a fairly decent range of quality rods and reels, i would buy there before getting Kmart crap.

For blue water and harbour fishing on boats etc, i'd just stick with the handlines, sounders find the fish for you. smile.gif

For a decent rod reel package, line and small tackle selection shouldnt cost you any more than a couple hundred bucks.

Or Iron ore wharf.

Next time your down there look at the hut at the end of the jetty. There is a pipe that comes from there. That pipe comes directly from the huts toilet. bowrofl.gif

I alsways see people fishing from the rocks under it bowrofl.gif

I use a Bantum 'Curado' reel with a Abu Garcia 'Morrum' rod. Best baitcaster combo out, hardy and will never shit itself. My uncle is a fishing guide and uses these, clients will drop them before the break! Avail from K-mart I believe, don't be discouraged by the seemingly generic selection.

As far as fishing spots are concerned, take a walk around Lee point or andwhere else with a few structures present. Or for a good afternoon trip go for a drive down Arhnem Hwy and throw some soft plastics into creek crossings.. you'd be surprised what you might find!
