Wow hard one to pick this week. I like the soft light and vibrant clouds in Harry's shot, I would possibly like Schmick's shot more if it wasn't in sepia, and boostmeister's is just that almost perfect shot (or is it perfect?) of a city scene. My vote goes to Boostmeister, the more I look at that shot the more perfect I think it is.
And I think the 20+ votes are going to go to SITH1.

Just simply post pictures into the Picture Submissions thread - if they are worthy, they will appear here at weeks-end.

My vote went to Harry. Great colours in it, definately something a little different than ur average sunset shot.
Boostmeister and Schmick's are next for me. B's for the colour and contrast against the sky. S's for composition (but its a little harsh with the sepia.... again I suggest a little desat when u do it)
The other thing I'll give a mention to is the dead fish!!! Bit strange but whatever floats ur boat mattson. hahaha. Good d.o.f. ... interesting subject

Haha my girl said the same thing "ewww, why on earth would you want to photograph a dead fish?". Desat of the sepia shot is a good suggestion!

All you need is the power of the dark side to make people vote for you with-out knowing why.....lol
Im going boosty, love the city shoot mate. The colours are to die for.
And for my shot, i may get some feed back on it.............lol

Ok, so my plan was to vote for my own shot (because I am really happy with the way it turned out) then I was going to also vote for Harry's shot due to the sweet colours, but you can't vote twice ? Oh well, Harry's is a good shot though.
Cam.
p.s. of all the shots I posted this past week that is the one I didn't think would get in, ( if any)

That's what I like about this comp, so random, thanks for the chance Mattson.

Ok, now I am acutally getting a little bit suspicious. I have never been into this conspiracy shit, but it happens every single week without fail.
Only one photo's votes go up.
It's like 20 ppl voted all at once and of those 20, not one of them voted for any of the other pix ???
It is a little weird.

haha harry you're just a sore loser

nah mate, same thing happened to me last week. I don't worry about the voting on this thing anymore, as every week for at least over a month this nonsense has happened.
To me this week there are 2 photo's that stand out more than the other 3, Harry's and Boostmeisters. Both are composed excellent and the colors are top! no offence to Schmick, but the blurry leaves in the foreground are a big distraction, and im not really a fan of the color treatmeant. Maybe some different PP of that shot could really improve it.
The dinosaur one, well im not really sure why thats up there. I find it painfull to look at, it doesn't seem in focus, and there are really distracting shadows from the flash. Sith has done far better work than that.

I voted for boostmiester. He deserved it more than me.
It just pisses me off that it is so obviously rigged. I mean in one day, 20 ppl voted, without fail, every sigle one of the 20 new votes went to schmick. Not one other person's votes went up....

I was just teasin hazman. I know how you feel. I think its becoming more and more obvious that this voting system doesn't work. Fuck knows how every week this happens. I reckon we just have to go back to Mattson picking the POTW and then there is no sooking.

#1 ...Just not feeling it. Not only do the subjects look dead, fake and flat (extinction will do that to ya) the desat. (personally) just doesn't help the cause.
#2 Amazing colours throughout and the hole in the cloud cover makes it quite interesting, but to me it looks too much like a test shot rather than a planned landscape. The lamp post and the sheer amount of machinery in the lower third of the shot make it feel that way to me and the tree with motion blur in the foreground is a little annoying.
#3 I really quite like it, but I just can't seem to extract any thoughts for it. Looks great in sepia but I feel there are too many focal points carving my/our attention.
#4 While cliche, it has amazing colour and is awesome to look at. Unfortunetely, doesn't get my vote.
#5 Great depth of field and It's such a strange looking fish. The dark colour swirls in the sand really compliment the grey colourations on the dead frame aswell.
My votes goes to DRIF7 this week, really interesting shot ^_~

well after much investigation - it turns out there was a foul stench in the air... a certain member (who will go unamed - you know who you are) had created multiple accounts & email addresses for what seems the only purpose was to vote in these polls.
although I don't see the purpose of stacked votes, especially in a friendly competition, it would seem too me the only reason for doing so was too cause others grief.
This is not and will not be tolerated here, and as such all the subsequent accounts have been banned.
Should this behaviour continue to flourish in future polls (i.e. said member re-registers another dozen accounts... then that person will not be welcomed back here again)
and on that note, it would appear after a much tighter competition without the swayed votes... The winner is BOOSTMEISTER
well done mate.
thank you and good night.

HARRY: Certainly not by me! I didn't know that I was even in the running until just now. And even if I had, I certainly haven't suddenly become best buds with 20 members here to rig it...
I just went back to see what you meant and I don't get it. There were 45 votes. Boost got 14. If I suddenly got 20 (where are they???), how come I didn't win? What am I missing here???
RAINEY: Ironically the first one in that set was in colour - it was just left full frame and wasn't cropped. FYI:
Here 'tisPARKO: I Agree. Too many focal areas.
NICOLE: Sorry toots, I can see that the sepia doesn't do much for you (and some others), but for some reason I really like hot saturated sepias. They really appeal to me.
My vote would have been to BOOST if I'd known
Have a good1

Shame I neve got to be xited about getting so many fake votes. Then again - no letdown either...
I just want to point out that the vote rigging had nothing to do with me, seeing as it was mentioned that votes had been pushed my way. I'm not the unnamed person.

Mattson, nice detective work mate. I'd be dishing up a little ban to the person responsible if it were my forum, haha. Whoever it may be, they must lead a pretty lame existance if thats how they get their kicks, so congrats to you, but your still a loser and now more people know!
schmick, we knew you weren't involved with the votes, its been going on for weeks, just like as Mattson said, only to ruin the final numbers, not to vote for buddies. That colour version of your picture is much easier on the eyes for me, well done for the nomination.
Boost! Congrats on the win, well deserved mate, it is a top photo.
