iv been meaning to do this for a long time.
painting my wheels..
this is what my wheels looked like.
IPB Image
i wanted to leave the lip polished, and make the inside white.
i got this primer from bunnings TOP STUFF only $11 a can it so thin. normally primers are very thick in a can.
i needed 2 cans of primer and 2 cans of clear. and a can of degreaser
IPB Image
so then i got to cleaning the wheels the better you clean the better the primer will stick.i soked the wheels in degreaser and used a old tooth brush to clean them.
IPB Image
then i had to fix any chips and scratches
IPB ImageIPB Image
after i saned the bits.
IPB Image
you have to feather out the chips.
i then went over with sand paper the bits that were going to be painted.
IPB Image
then sprayed with wax and grease remover.
then i taped and put paper over it. and hit it with some paint..
IPB ImageIPB Image
iv put about 3 cotes of paint on them.
im just leting it "bake" in the sun and then i will put some clear on
as you might be abell to see the primer is very matt
IPB Image
And after a cote of clear..
IPB ImageIPB Image

and wile waiting for the clear to dry i found some plastic primer so thought i would spray the caps red like the car. so taped them up and..
IPB Image

3 cotes of clear latter...

IPB ImageIPB Image
and the center caps just paint ATM will clear later...
IPB Image

and 2 cotes of clear on the caps and now i will leave over night and put on tomorrow..
IPB Image
put the wheels on this morning and i think there pretty snazzy
the caps are the some red as the car (Rio red)

**** the rims get really dirty now but i love them..

Bog... just regular old body filler... bog. just make sure you clean it properly and smooth it off..dont get lazy half way. prime it nice and even too. alot of the work is in the prep, not in the actual paint so take your time.
16OTH
really, I would have thought there was more to it than bog!

I've got nothing but time, and I plan on refurbing these wheels and selling them, so I want them to look decent.

I painted up a set of 18's a while ago... I didnt even have alook on here for tips.. I jsut went balls deep to see what would happen.. and the bog worked a treat. you can buy metel mend putty... but that is too hard to neaten up once it cures.

bog did the trick for me... and my wheels were fucked before i started.
MR_NATTY
hvant had any heating problems with the paint
i did mine but with engine paint
