I was thinking in terms of it being a shovel (low) rather than it's tyre plowing abilities.

The buggies on Top Gear are the sort of thing I'm looking for for myself - Fireblade engine or similar.
Not quite so full-on for the kids.

the old man gave me a kit and some plans when i was like 10 i think and i built myself a little buggy

Only the top end pre fabrircated buggies are worthwhile, a mojority are of inferior quality. Try offroad racing sites for second hand ones based on VW floor plan, these are very adaptable and are less inclined to rolling etc.
