Something to teach the kids to drive in (at my farm). It needs to be reasonably powerful and manual. I intend to have them drifting.

I was thinking in terms of it being a shovel (low) rather than it's tyre plowing abilities.
The buggies on Top Gear are the sort of thing I'm looking for for myself - Fireblade engine or similar. Not quite so full-on for the kids.

Only the top end pre fabrircated buggies are worthwhile, a mojority are of inferior quality. Try offroad racing sites for second hand ones based on VW floor plan, these are very adaptable and are less inclined to rolling etc.
Your kids are very lucky! Good luck with it.
Try this lot they often have some good ones for sale.
