Me too.
I only use it for weird effects like this:

you guys are obviously using them wrong wink.gif

unless of course you're using the silly onboard flash unit, which 9 times out of 10 is a peice of shite!

proper speedlights and flash units etc can give awesome results and when done properly create awesome lighting effects and brilliant results:

i like my flash... fills in the dark areas and still gives that natrual look

when i had pete's speedlight i had been playing with it. they are awesome, it keeps most of the colour unlike the onboard and just fills in the dark area's nicely.

once i have some extra dough ill be getting a new flash

Can anyone reccomend me a flash for my camera? bearing in mind I dont wana spend oodles of monies

jump onto ebay lance, there are canon 430ex speedlights going for 300 which is a pretty dam good price.
the 430ex seems like it would by quite good, it doesnt seem to be much behind the 580ex which is the the top line models.

ive had my eye on a 430ex for a long time but yet again a car has to come before more camera gear.

430s are a great little flash unit... not quite as feature packed as the 580, but you can always aim for one of those later

google 430ex vs 580ex

and you should get some good comparisons

Flash is essential for almost all photography. From flash units to studio lighting!

I've been getting shocking results with my 580ex. There was one shoot where it was near sunset and the flash was giving awesome results on the models I was snapping. Since then I've tried using it at night, on camera with a diffusing mini soft box but they all end up crap.

I'll give this a read and see how I go. Thanks for the link smile.gif
