Lets face it, most of us usually like our cars not only to perform great but look good to whilst offering excellent protection from the harsh elements we have in this country that ravage our paint and interiors day in and day out.
The following I've put together to simply allow people to see there are quite a few brands of car care products on the market world wide that usually can't be obtained in stores, but often deleiver far better results than what you can purchase from your local automotive outlet in both protection, looks and sometimes price too. These products are made usually in the U.S.A. or Germany, and are available to us in Australia.
Before I start there are two different types of waxes and polishes on the market, those being carnauba based and the others being synthetic.
Carnauba based waxes have been around for decades. Carnauba comes from the Copernica Prunifera, which is a fan palm native to northern tropic rainforests of Brazil. It's used in a mirid of products, including the wet looking lip stick ladies wear these days. In 100% grade one Brazilian white carnauba the size of a house brick, it has more strength than steel and costs between $15,000 - $20,000. Rare Grade 1 white Brazilian carnauba is the most transparent and hardest wax in the world. It produces a typically wet look, with a real silky feel to it. Due to the carnauba base, it also helps fill extremely lights scratches and swirls. Down side is how long it lasts when applied. Typically it lasts anywhere from 3-6mths depending on how well it is maintained. A vehicle left outdoors constantly will see it last usually no more than 3mths. Many products claim they contain 100% of grade 1 Brazilian carnauba, in either yellow or white form. Now this is true to a certain extent, however most well known brands such as Meguiars etc usually contain no more than a total content of 5-10% of carnauba, but that 5-10% is 100% grade 1 Brazillian carnauba. You can test if a product contains high amount of grade 1 Brazilian carnauba on how easy it is to apply. If if is hard and is like trying to apply steel to the car than you know it has a high content. If it spreads and applies easily then you know it has very very low amounts in the product. Basically, the higher the grade 1 Brazilian carnauba content the higher the gloss and shine.
Synthetic based polishes have in the past 10yrs made an impact on the car care scene. Synthetic polishes last longer than carnauba based waxes, they give a deeper look to the paint too. The down side is they do not hide light scratches and swirls, or produce the same wet look and hi glow that carnauba does.
The following products have an outstanding reputation world wide in concourse car care products. They are by no means the only ones, but the most highly respected and award winning. They are listed below in no order.
SWISSOL
Arguably the worlds finest carnauba waxes on the market today!
Swissol first started off in an old chemist shop laboratory in Switzerland and the earliest jars of wax were known as "Antikwachs" which was a formula developed for precious antiques and laquers. Originally the concourse car waxes were produced for the private use of Hans Anwander, the grand father and founder of the company.
Swissol system is very simple and consists of two components, those being a cleaning pre-wax oil, and then feeding and sealing the paint with wax.
Swissol waxes contain no abrasives, and the wax is hand extracted from the Copernica Prunifera fan palm and other selected special fruits from deep in the Brazilian rainforests and the waxes even smell good enough to eat! Swissol waxes are hand made in Switzerland. Swissol has now been in operation since 1930. Swissol waxes contain the highest amount of pure carnaubu waxes of any waxes in the world, with thier top of the line "Devine" which is specifically made to your vehicles paint containing 60% ultra pure white Brazilian wax. All other Swissol waxes contain between 30%- 60% pure Brazilian wax. Klasse is not a wax or polymer protectant. It's an ACRYLIC formula, something completely different. Klasse bonds to the surface like a wax but lasts much longer. It doesn't penetrate or change the paint in any way. It matches or exceeds the depth and clarity of high quality carnauba waxes but does much more. It creates an elastic, non-chip, shrink-proof, heat and scratch resistant -protective seal against ultraviolet rays, salt water, acid rain and industrial pollutants for six to nine months.
The foundation of the Klasse line is the All-In-One Step. This is a true one-step product. It cleans, polishes and protects in one easy step. The cleaner in All-In-One removes existing wax, road films, light oxidation and visually reduces swirls. It accomplishes this by rounding over the top edge of the swirl robbing sunlight of a sharp edge to cause a reflection. It absolutely will not remove paint or clear coat finish.
