hi all,

i am just starting to get into photography, i enjoy it alot, i dont have alot of money and, i think a slr camera is a fair bit too much, i had a look at this sony cybershot DSC-H2, and it seems ok, but i cant find out if it has an attachable lense, as i go to the drifting frequently, and want to get sum drifting shots not just the the cars in the pits, lol, but any info or advice, i dnt want to spend over $899 thats max, any advice will be a big help, cheers

You can use attachments, but its never going to be like an slr if thats what your thinking.

Keeping in mind that it has a massive optical zoom on it, i would be supprised if you would even need to bother.

Also another thing to keep in mind, is that it has image stabiliser, which, for something equiv in SLR ie a USM lens your talking thousands, just for the lense.

mate the lense on this would be more than enough to use at the drift days, and if it isnt sometimes you would be bale to crop images and still keep quality photos.

like twincam16 said it has an image stabiliser lense on it which is a big bonus and no doubt it will have shutter, apeture priorities and custom white balance etc.

just always remember memory cards and extra batteries for long days at the track.

I love how many people take pics of drift days now hehe.

dj brad k............ thanx heaps for that so that camera will be suitable, for a drift day? along with another battery and mem card, also wat size mem card should i have???
dj_brad_k
i would say it would be more than capable for taking pics at drift days.

as for memory cards it uses memory stick duo's sony's own type of memory card, go for a 1gb card, that should fecth you at least 400 photos roughly i would think. these are real cheap on ebay like 20 or 30bux if you feel that isnt enough after some events buy a second one.

it also has adapters for tele converter lenses aswell as wide angle lense and filters.

this is a photo i took at a drift day with a 4mp olympus with 10x zoom and no imagestabiliser.

I would also suggest looking at panasonic cameras.

I have the fz-5 which has been updated to the fz-7 http://panasonic.com.au/products/details.cfm?objectID=3086

The FZ-7 has manual focus, 6 mp, 12x zoom (which I beleive equivalently speaking is a greater zoom than most reasonably priced lenses for slr's), manual exposure & aperature control, and the rrp is under $800.00.
dj_brad_k
agreed there

the new panasonics are great, i believe they also have multiple frames a second something the sony wont have but nislo wil be able to confirm that
