id choose a 2005 honda city.. it got a 7 speed tiptronic gearbox u can also shift from the steering wheel...
i got some iVTEC here. What you gotta consider is the cost. VTEC's have some real ball tearing power. The newer the better. But the newer the more expensive. B spec engines are half the price to mod compared to the newer K spec. K = mid 2001 and B = pre 2002

vtec is apparently overated
the b16a's are easy enought to come by and you can find almost anything for them for a resinable price.

go with GTRVspec and build a B20... crv block and B18 head... then turbo it...
Supercharge the B16A motor, CAPA has a kit for it that pushes 275hp at the fly!
well i'd def have to say b16a or b18c and put them in something small like a crx or civic..

na i'd say B18C.. its small.. has wicked revving and power curve and people think "wow thats only a 1.8"
