hey clint, can you test a amp to see whats wong with it mine keeps going into protection mode

Or does anyone know someone who can? Stacer maybe?

Check your wiring? try reconnection. If the problem is still there after u have made sure wires are connected right the problem will be with the amp. Bring it in..
Or if Clint can do it, go for it..

Here is a question then....
My amp has 4 channels... but having it looked at by a electronic techs I happen to know that don't specialize in car stuff found that channel 1 and 3 are putting out less gain then 2 and 4?? Go figure...

Then why did you have it looked at by them then??
Have you checked your balance and fade settings?? Is there distrortion coming from 1 & 3??

Got a farrad capaciter? Your alternator can't create the charge that your trying to use... So it cuts in and out as the power flatuates.

The amp cutting out could be a couple of things, capacitors are expensive so start with the cheaper stuff, it may be hitting a thermal cut-out, when it cuts out if you can touch it for 5 seconds or so without having to take your hand off because of heat that part should be fine. Also what size power cable are you running? If it is quite thin, it could be the cable being to small. Then look at a capacitor if none of this seems to be a problem.

A capacitor is what you can add to fix the problem. Basically if you can not supply enough current to your amp from the alternator when a long low frequency note plays with the volume turned up it draws a lot of current, sometimes if the amp does not get enough current to produce the noise it will shut down. Putting in a capacitor .5 or 1 farad can fix the problem, they charge when not drawing lots of current and when you draw more current then the alternator can supply they discharge to provide the extra current. But they are not that cheap, I would check that it is not other things before you go out and get one. You should be running at least 8 gague cable to power it. Also check the book that came with the amp to see what can cause it to shut down and start with that.

well i dont know about haydens problem but i have a voltage readout on my distribution block so its not a voltage drop cause u isse just under 14volts with the biggest baas beats, i got a huge battery so i dont need a Cap
Stacer: can i get it looked at to find out what is wrong? what will it cost me just to see whats wrong and get a quote to fix?

my m8s got 2 amps one RF P8002 and one other for the speakers, b4 the cap went in the sound was real decent and pretty loud, at that point 8 gague to one amp and 4 to the other, the cap is (don't know why he choose it so big) RF CPCC25 16 Volt 25 Farad, with 0 gague to the cap and 4 gague to the amps, when it was put in not only was it noticeably alot louder but it was also crystal F@#KING clear, couldn'tly and still kind of can't get ova wat a BIG difference it made. i've seen ppl stick second batteries to compensate in b4 but caps i've seen have done a better job. my 2 cents

Could try Freddy @ Freddy's car installations. His work is good and the price is reasonable. He did all the gauge and stereo installations in my car, cost fuck all...
