I have a stock as a rock Silvia S13 coming to me in January, i just want to know what i can and cant do to it. It comes with a BOV, Exhaust and adjustable suspension, its a CA8DET engine so i want to do a couple of mods like, Intercooler, pod filter, and couple of other minor mods to get around on P's. Any inforamtion would be Super!! I know the legal lime its 100mm off ground so my car will be 105 (im heavy

)..

Your BOV is illegal, and will make your car run like shit.
Get a new 3" turbo back exhaust system in mild steel.
Get your coilovers checked to see if they're leaking or need a rebuild.
You can have
either a front mount intercooler,
or a pod filter. In VIC you are only allowed 1 intake modification.

2. Open air filter (i.e. pod filter) with the combination of an intercooler is illegal. (anyone care to clarify?)
3. Loud exhausts may pass noise emmission testing, but on your P plates, its kinda asking for trouble.

As he said, a pod is illegal if you modify your intercooler.
If you really want to get a better IC, get an ARC sidemount, it's much thicker and flows a lot better, and the cops wont know it's there.
Get a mild steel exhaust, none of that stainless steel shit, mild steel is thicker, and absorbs a lot of the sound, whereas stainless steel just resonates, and sometimes creates a horrible exhaust tone, mild steel will last longer than the car, so don't get fooled into buying stainless.

Exhaust is nothing speical, BOV i will try and sweet talk my way out of it. My car was a Q model (on turb auto) and has been converted into a K model. Is it expensive to change to 5 stud wheels or should i keep it at four.

They won't care, you'll get defected.
5 stud conversion
Front:
S14 spindles+hubs
R32/S14/S15 balljoints pressed into the stock s13 lower control arms (or just use s14/s15 LCAs)
Redrill stock discs to 5stud (most people upgrade to 4pot brakes at the same time though - that just involves discs, calipers and pads)
Rear:
R32 GTS-t / S14 hubs
redrill rear discs to 5stud
Though I don't really see any point doing that, theres plenty of info and how-to's if you need to do it.

i am an apprentice mechanic and i was reading the plumb back bov are also illeagle due to the fact that the air the bov puts back into the system causes the car to fuel up and screw the emmisions up ya just cant win can ya

No, you are an idiot. Please keep to yourself.

anyone know if racing seats are legal? like a neat proper saas one?

Recaro and Velo seats are ADR approved as long as you get the ADR approved rails.
I'm not sure about SAAS. But even if you get an ADR approved seat, the rail is the thing you need to be worried about.
When you get your car, don't worry about modifying it, just get a full service, change all the fluids, oils, belts, compression/leakdown test, flush out all your intake piping (maybe get a catch can), check your O2 sensor (get a new one if you have to), just make sure it is all running fine. Then start modifying when you're not satisfied with the performance.
There's plenty of bolt ons that you can do, it just depends how you want to go about it.
The stock t25 on a ca18det isn't a very great turbo, get a t28bb or at least a t28 from an s14/15, that should bolt on after modifying water and oil lines.
If you're going to get a front mount, paint it black.
Remove the atmo venting BOV and get a plumbback one installed.
There's lots of ways to go about modifying your car, if I was you (and I was 6 months ago

), keep the engine bay looking as stock as possible, so if you do get pulled over, the cops t wont find anything bad.
