Q2ENVY
ok guys this one has me and my dad puzzled.and my dad is a mechanic
after some spirited driving in my car(n13 ca18det) i dropped a cylinder.
first thoughts were head gasket or piston damage. compresion test ruled out that, the car is getting spark and fuel..all 3 things needed for it to crank tho number one cylinder still wont fire..Even though everythin needed is there we tried new spark plugs, leads, coil pack, injector etc.
mechanically and theoretically it should fire but still wont!
there is plenty of spark there, fuel and compression. can not see any kind of vacuum leak either. its booked in next week with a guy who specialises in autronic ecus(hence thats what im running. over the phone he really doesnt think it will b the ecu though we cant see anythin mechanically worng
please if anyone out there with extensive knowledge in meachanics or electrics has any suggestions we could really use them.

thanx

chris
BRUTLE
i take it your father has checked for injector pulse eg voltage supply also the ECU,s ground trigger on the offending cyl , also does it only drop the cyl at idle and will it pick up on the cyl when you rev it then drop out under load ????
mr big
try your wireing harness ,injector plugs ,injector o rings ,cdi
Q2ENVY
thanx for the reply guys.
we have check all of the above except for ecu ground trigger?? not too sure wat that is.
we have found that if i use number one cylinder on the other cylinders it will kill wat ever cylinder has number one lead on it and all the rest will run fine.
we are now thinkin crank angle sensor for the ecu has put out fault code 34 whicj we r lead to believe is crank sensor
tho the guy i deal with wont give out to mmuch info over the phone cause that means he loses out on a job the bastrd
