Ok guys I want to buy a stereo system for my car. I already got a deck I just need to buy decent backs with a Amp and Sub what Type do you guys think I should get and sizes? I want a good stereo system. I was thinking in brands Pioneer or Kenwood. I alrady have a Deck it's Kenwood. So I dont want to replace my Deck just only need backs amp sub and maybe Side tweeters in front seat. wanting to spend around a thousand or somthing.

What model head unit? How many RCA's on it? IF you're dead set on those two brands id go Pioneer hand down.
Other than that i would suggest Soundstream or Clarion. You want exact items or just brand name suggestions? This post has been edited by GTRwilson: Nov 7 2009, 06:45 PM -------------------- ![]() P.S. COMMODORES RULE!!! |

I have some Alpine speakers, and i would never get them again. The Alpine Type R 6" coaxills died after 3 fucking weeks, and the Type R 6.5" splits arent anything to rave about either.
How ever, my old Pioneer Kevlar 6.5" splits hammered all day every day without a problem and sounded crystal clear until the day i sold them. Also my Soundstream 2000W 15" and Soundstream 2000W monoblock amp i still have pump hard and never had a problem. -------------------- ![]() P.S. COMMODORES RULE!!! |

So what head unit/model? Need to know if you can run a 4channel amp + a mono for a sub before recommending anything. Also JB HiFi are dumb as dogshit, well the one i went to anyway. They sold me a monoblock amp to run my splits and coaxills.

im not a real fan of alpine but recently they have been real value for money. you can get away with an entry level alpine splits as long as you have an amp running it. it will sound nice without distortion. a alpine mono block amp and a kicker 15 inch dual voicecoil sub. for under $1500 installed its a real bargain and im very happy with it. gold coast car sound are doing great deals at the moment. i think they have to because of the competition with strathfield and auto barn. i could have squeezed them for less but i felt rude to ask for cheaper. good luck with your purchase.

For a start you need to say what you're after soundwise? clarity in sound? bass? I have kickers in my car and they sound great but JL offer clearer sound. With bass it also depeends on how much you have to spend? do you want punchy bass? do you want BASS? with amps many outputs do you want? do you want to run just the subs from the amp or the rears or the whole system? And another good idea is to NOT let people know whats in your car because that is begging someone to steal it.

i have a half alpine(amps and subs) and half pioneer(speakers & HU) i really recommend them
but if you really want some mid priced speakers that are extremly good i'd grab a set of 6" polks the deliver a really good mid range and high end sound and you can let your sub/s do the bass for them for bass i recommend a alpine 10" type R or a decent 12" JL audio sub and for an amp i recommend a kicker amp as they really deliver alot of power and they have always for some reason under rated the power out put on them until you get the box and will tell you what it is rated to as they test them http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/db/index.php?s=db651s http://www.shopatron.com/products/productd...299.46364.0.0.0? https://www.dpcauto.com/products/Kicker-ZX8...-Amplifier.html you will be able to find those prices cheaper Damo -------------------- QUOTE(bandit_corolla @ May 1 2009, 10:41 PM) holly shit! the giant vacuum cleaner!! iv got JL Audio 6" all round and they are good for mids and highs but once lows are pushed through they distort badly, so iv got 2 mtx subs to fill in.
my current set up sees me to 130 dB with a bit of distortion from the JL's. im running: Alpine headunit Sony 600W 4 channel amp (reason for distortion - doesnt have frequancy cut off) Cutting edge 1000w mono block amp 4x 6" JL audio speakers (think they are 60wrms each) 2x JL Audio tweeters 2x MTX Road thunder subs (250wrms each) fyi, 1st step soundproof everything u can, helps heaps |

man all you'll need is a set of pioneer 6" splits in the back and a 12"sub or 2 and then a pioneer amp... then you'll have a good system in your car and it wont cost u shit loads...but yea u need to know how many RCA'S u have out the back of your head deck..

dont worry about rear speakers subs will destroy them anyway go for the best quality splits you can up front with a decent 2 channel to run them and then 2 12's and a monoblock about the 600wrms mark at 2 ohm this should make your car come alive and have people hear you coming from a mile away. about $350-400 for front splits and amp and about $350 for a monoblock and vfm audio sell twin 12 inch boxes for around $80 then just grab some $70-80 dollar name brand entry subs something like sony, kenwood, or pioneer but dont forget wiring about $100 should cover it. so all up around a total of $1100

Out of the 2 brands you suggested in your first post I would use Pioneer for a basic system, (eg. deck and 2 rear speaker job) but it sounds like your wanting a bit more then that so yeah head over to Northfield Car Sound or any proper audio store and enquire.

What do you guys think of wow sight and sound Or jb-hi-FI? I'm in brisbane Area Ehhh...I wouldn't be asking for too much advice from the people who work there...Northfield know their shit. If you know what gear you need, then get it from JB or WOW. Also, keep haggling them with the prices. I managed to knock off $650 off a H/U -------------------- |
