man i ain't no expert but didn't honda stop making the cbr in the late 90's ??? if so, i can't see how you working for honda is gonna make a bee's dick of difference to rebuilding it. IMO the cbr250 is one of the most overpriced pieces of shit on the road. depending on your size and build they are fucking tiny!! i reckon you would be flat out trying to keep up with a postie through the local streets (especially in QLD where the roads are so shit it feels like speedbump land). If it seems cheap to you and you can afford it go for it but don't ask $6'000 + when you go to sell it, especially with the new LAMS laws or whatever the fuck the Highly Knowledgable QLD gove has in place rolleyes.gif when someone can by a 600 for the same dollars, why go for a 250?. what year model is it? rant over but damn cbr's they are everywhere advertised for more than a 2000 gsxr750. WTF? if i had to start from scratch again i would go a postie bike cos i have seen them dudes dragging the side bags round tight roundabouts and losing me ( I SUCK thumbsup.gif )

Hahahaa all good statements there mate, well firstly i dont mind the CBR 250 it isnt great but its fun to piss fart around on, secondly its a 1993 model i think and i would only sell it for around 3 grand ish, thats all they go for these days, and thirdly it would look better fixed then sitting in our workshop beaten and rusted

then go for it. i personally hate the fuckers. they look fine, are very small ( I think) for a bigger dude and sound like shit. wait for more opinions or go for it, is always good to see someone wanting to work on bikes cos i can imagine it would be as fiddly and frustrating as fuck

Statutory Write off?

well this is the story behind it, about 3 years ago some guy brings in this CBR 250 RR to have a chrash repair quote and an engine repair quote from us, the bill was pretty extream seeing as the engine was rooted and the bike is pretty bent up at the front end (which is easily fixed since we have spare front forks for it which ic an swap over) and the engine well thats easy fixed, just take some time, so yeah after 3 yars the guy hasnt come in or even rang up to see about his bike so i thought no ones gonna claim it so i will, the way i look at it is we have alot of spare parts for CBR 250s sitting in our workshop doing shit all and a CBR 250 in need of some tlc put 2 and 2 together and i get a brand new engine and a CBR 250 to piss fart around on for fun smile.gif

nah my work isnt charging me i threw down an offer of 100 bucks just to sweeten the deal so i actually get it, and the only parts ill pay for would be whatever engine internals are damaged, the exterior like handle bars, grips, forks, fairings stuff like that ill just grab from the shops spares so i dont really pay for much

I am about to finish building mine. I think they are a great bike. And if you can pick it up for cheap, fix it for cheap and sell it for heaps, more power to ya.

THere are so many good parts around. you really can make somehting personal if you try.
