hey guys

just got a general topic and want some inside into what everyone thinks tongue.gif

as you would all know i own a Proton Satria 2000 model GTi and booked it in for a repair at a mechanic i have been through for years, now, i purchased a timing belt kit with tensioner and bearings the works as i hate taking short cuts for a 4g93 engine as to what the proton apparantly has but the tensioners are different lengths, just wondering why if it is a 4g93 engine. When the mechanic dropped the engine out, they snapped an engine mount! from experience i believe this can't be helped but. Now, also apparently my cam gear was tightened too much by previous owner and they managed to snap that as well lol so either i have extremely bad luck or a mechanic who has it in for me lol other issue this bloody car has given is strut tops. my rear left strut rattles like a bitch when i drive and was told it was movement in the strut top, ne ideas on this and if so is it serious. same has happened to the front right.

Why are the tensioners different even tho its a 4g93 engine timing belt kit?
is it common for engine mounts to snap that easy?
can a cam gear break due to being overtightened when being taken off?
any one have many dramas with protin strut tops?

should i make the mechanic pay for some of these events or am i just that unlucky?
any advice or experience people have with these dramas?
and is it possible to claim on car insurance as my car is totally fuc*&d atm

Engine mount could snap if it landed on the right angle with enough shock

Cam gear would have been broken by your mechanic trying to take it off, probably got impatient because it was overtightened, still is no excuse.

thanks 8700s14 that is what a few mates think as well, they also suggested maybe mechanic was at fault!
