Really? So they're checking through the thousands of plates they've sent out and deciding which to recall?

yes mate they are i was talking to the person who makes the final decision on if your allowed to have the plate combo or not and that is exactly what they are doing but all they have to do is type in a word and it brings up every plate with that word in it.
so it wont take them that long to find it.
apparently they have had thousands of complaints from religious fools so they have no choice but to ban them.

you might get away with that for a little while but i am sure eventually they will find it.

the best way to find out would be to ring them but then they know what plate to add to the list so i would just wait for the recall letter.

You probably did the wrong thing by posting on boost. But its deff understandable that you paid for a certain colour and now they try and send you back a different colour.

PPQ will at the time of a request for a plate either issue it or not - based on the criteria of what is acceptable.

The Chief Executive retains the discretion to issue or not issue any plate combination

*see Tansport Operations (Road Use Management - Vehicle Registration) Regulation 1999,Div 4,Sec 23.*

And on the point of so called offensive plates the current policy on that is if a complaint is lodged regarding a particular number plate combination, then it is up to the Chief Exceutive of Queensland Transport to decide if the combination is to be deemed offensive.

Then the registered operator would be asked to surrender the plate combination and plates to the Chief Executive and to be offered an alternative combination.

What about standard issue plates like the below?

Friend of mine with certain plates got told he could have them, but if he got reported as being offensive, then they would be recalled.

yet the gumbyment issues ones like the below? to which everyone just lol's at (cos they are awesome)

All plates need to be explained why and how they are offensive in any complaint made and it's not just an outright 'yes' to every complaint.

So if for example i had plates saying 637 FKD (personalised - just for arguments sake)

and someone complained. Could I use the posted picture (standard issue plates) to say, well those are issued as standard, I should keep mine?

Just for curiosity

yep its any plate that is found to be offensive and yes people have to complain about it first and alot of these plates have had complaints put against them and they are being recalled.
you may get lucky and fly under the radar but i wouldnt count on it.
one plate alone had more than 2000 complaints sent in about it so there are people out there that will complain and they probably come on sites like these and look for plates to complain about as well.
