I'm a little confused...
How can someone get hypnotised and then do things that they would normally never do - ie act like complete dickheads ? If you, still know whats going on - and youve enough self awareness to say - "not strip off" - how can it be suggested, to do something that you'd not normally do ?
Also - how do you know if you are a candidate for hypnotism ? I have trouble relaxing at any time - does this simply mean i'm not able to be hypnotised, or is there something i can work on ??

People do the things that they do because they accept the suggestion. After that, what they do feels normal, it's tricking the subconscious which makes the act feel normal, not weird (like how it's seen to any other person).

Most people are candidates for hypnotism, but there is the exceptions - those who are open to the idea of hypnotism generally are best. Those who are concerned or don't trust the hypnotist, won't be as receptive because they are less inclined to accept the suggestions or be relaxed to get in to that state.

It's an induction method, but not a lot of hypnotists can do it - takes a lot to master it properly.

Like when I look at babes deep into their eyes.. they melt.

Na what do you do? Sounds like it could convey some sort of dominance over the other person so I'm keen to hear.

Yes I can - I wouldn't call myself a hypnotist though. But it's a useful thing to know!

Hypnotism is not just something that is used for performances and making people believe they can quit smoking. It's simply one aspect of manipulating and tricking the mind but it's everywhere around us and no one knows this better than advertising companies and sales people.

At one stage or another you can probably remember a time when you became so absorbed in a book or magazine that you were reading, that things would happen around you but completely escaped your notice and of course in such a situation, time seems to fly by really quick. That's all a hypnotic state is; focused concentration during which a person becomes less aware of his or her surroundings.

You might be interested in self hypnosis; and if so, there is no better starter than imagining yourself laying on a beach. You can feel the heat from the sun, the sand between your toes and the wind blowing gently. Then you find yourself getting a little warm, so you decide to go for a nice cool swim! As you walk towards the water you notice just offshore there is a small deserted island, being the inquisitive person you are, you step in to the cool water and begin to start swimming. You continue to swim but it’s further than you realised and you are beginning to feel tired and your arms getting very heavy. And with each stroke you take, it's getting harder and harder to lift your arms. You can really feel it

Are only a few meters from shore now, but you have hardly enough energy to kick your legs let alone standup. You eventually get to the sandy shore and use what energy you have left to push yourself up the sand. You finally get ashore, roll over on to your back with the very last ounce of strength you have left in your body. You find yourself now struggling to keep your eyes open and just relax.

Tired and very relaxed is generally what people feel after going through those visual steps. And that within itself is a state where you would be the most receptive to a suggestion. You are still consciously aware of what is happening around you and you could probably get up and walk around if you wanted, but the fact is, you are just too relaxed to want to get up and move and all you want to do is just listen.

That is what you feel like when you are under hypnosis. By the way, feeling a little tired? No?

Friend of mine at work had it done so she could stop smoking, worked really well for her.

I keep tormenting her that the hypnotist added some trigger words.

So - as per TT. Does hypnotherapy really work ?

I've got a few "vices" i'd like to work out of my life, wondering if hypontherapy actually works - or is it for entertainment reasons only ?

Anyone have any experiences or know ppl that have been under ??

Top gear had interesting seg on Dicky Hammond being hypnotised tonight - thought it was absolute bullshit, but hey - i've got an open mind and my curiosity is starting to grow on the subject...

Si.

That was a classic episode.

I think he was really hypnotized, Hammond wouldn't be able to sell it otherwise and would be laughing all the time.
