Well long story short, i was driving to garden city (emergency) and caught whilst still on L's.

FINES
Fail tp display "L" plates $160 and 2 points
Learner driver unaccompanied $160 and 1 points

So does that mean i lost my license if so for how long? I tried searching but came with different results. When i asked the cop that caught me she said Learners were on 3 points and she doesn't know for sure but i lost my license for 12 months?

Have i lost it?

BOOSTERS HELP ME OUT!

Nope, 4 points unless it's changed recently. You might have to go to court though? One of my mates did and got off just with fines.

i thought the points came off the supervisors licence but then again you had none. i thought it was just a fine and 12 more months on your L's (meaning you have to do the Lplate test again)

GOD!,
If you dont know dont answer,

You lose your licence after accumulation of four points,
You have accumulated 3, you wont lose your licence.

And I was under the impression not displaying plates was a 1 point offence.

L platers have 4. Pretty sure these are the same point you have to keep on your P's as well.
So (I think) you will have 1 point to last you until your P's and then for the length of your P's.

yeah you haven't lost your licence.
2 of my mates got caught atleast 3 times each before they had to go to court then got the option of good behaviour or 3 month suspension.
but it depends on the cop that pulls you up.
i'd suggest don't drive by yourself(Y)

It's weird, because one of my mates lost 3 points for not having P plates on.

You'd think you should lose more for no L plates than for no P plates...

Holy shit this thread is full of so much fail. L platers can accrue up to 4 (four) demerit points. OP you have NOT lost your license (providing you haven't had any other demerit points accrued against your license in the past 12 months)

/END THREAD!

Not quite. Accumulation lasts for 12 months on your L, P, P1 or P2 licence. So in 12 months time the points would be removed.

OT: Failing to display L Plates - 2 points + $160

Driving Unaccompanied with on Ls - 1 point + $160

If a L, P, P1 and P2 licence holder accumulates 4 or more demerit points within a 12 month period, they will be sent a Notice of Accumulation and option for 3 month suspension or 12 month Good Driving Behaviour period.

That's how it's been for quite some time now, which is ridiculous, because the penalties are far too low. It should be worked to suspend their licence if they drive unaccompanied, but anyway, beside the point. So to the OP, no, those offences will not result in loss of licence, however, any other offence within the next 12 months will, so tread carefully.

Hey Rookie - what about the aformentioned "emergency"?

If he went to court, and actually PROVED it was an emergency, couldn't the judge see extenuating circumstances? Long shot, I do realise, but does the little tyke have anything to stand on?

Only if they were truly extreme circumstances AND driving was the only viable option.

Something about driving to Garden City suggests that it doesn't meet either criteria, unless of course they had a once in a lifetime bargain sale of Unit flatcaps of 4 for $40 with free southern cross stickers.
